<font color="blue">Hey ladies!
On Thursday I treated myself to a wash and blowdry at the salon. My hairdresser said that my hair was looking good. She suggested that I could get a trim if I wanted to to even out my hair but the ends looked good. But she noticed that the front of my hair is shorter. My hair is about 13 1/2 inches on the sides and 14 inches in the back. The front of my hair is about 6 inches now /images/graemlins/shocked.gif My stylist suggested that it could have happend from me putting my hair back. Its not a lot of hair thats short... only about half an inch that is 6inches but as you ladies know I was so upset /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/frown.gif
When I fist started using a pony. I slicked my hair back using a brush. When I discovered that brushed were bad I stoped doing that immedately. I use I pick to put my hair back. So the cause of my breakage could be:
Putting in the pony when my hair is still wet.
The comb in the pony is ripping my hair out.
mmmmm I can't think of another reason.
please help!

Wow, I don't know what to say. However, I believe this advice was given by Adrienne, but she suggest taking out on of the combs from the drawstring ponytail. I took both combs out of my ponytail and I find it to be less stressful on my hair.

I had the same problem with the drawstring ponytail. Mine broke off very short where the combs were. I had to stop wearing them. This happened before I came here and read how Adrienne removed one of the combs.

AmilLion - if you remove both combs, how does it stay on?

<font color="blue">Thanks for your responces....I think i'm going to remove the combs and use bobby pins. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

awww, sorry to hear about the damage, caramelbarbie! /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

i do take one of the combs out but not because of breakage as much as it just being too uncomfortable. i've been using the ponytail for about a year. i had thinning around the hairline from pulling my hair too tight before putting the ponytail on. i still do this sometimes. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif i still also smooth my hair down with a brush. i don't think that's bad. i think brushing through the hair while wet is, but that's not the same as smoothing the hair down.

anyway, it's always something, man! /images/graemlins/look.gif

Keep your hair well moisturized in the spot where the ponytail is attached. Unless it's an especially windy day /images/graemlins/blush.gif, I don't even use the combs to attach it to my hair--I use 3-4 giant hair pins in the loops that are inside the little "cap". (All ponytails might not have the loops...) And make sure you don't attach it to the exact same spot every day. Sometimes I wear mine low and sometimes I wear it high like Penny on Good Times. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

<font color="blue">Thanks for your advice guys. I'm really baffled on how the breakage could have happended:( The rest of my hair is doing great so I'm not ready to throw my pony away but I will remove the top comb and use bobby pins instead.
