I wanna put in some box braids for a couple weeks cuz it's the end of the semester.... but i saw some really pretty pics of box braids with loose straight ends i wanna know what the best way of doing this would be? normally i do coils on the ends... do you think this is a bad idea because the ends would be exposed? help please i'd like to get started soon!

do you mean like very long braids or are you talking tree braids?

with tree braid you can get knots to keep it from unraveling.

If all of your hair id going to be in very long braids and u just want the very ends to be out you can use nail glue right where the braided part ends and loose hair starts. Or they also sell braid sealers.....a little handheld type thingy.

Post a pic of what your thinking off.

Depending on the type of extentions you buy, I use expression when I do feeding braids.....you dont have to worry about unravelling as you just seal with hot water and the ends dont loosen.:look:

when i get box braids extentions the braider soaks the ends of the braids in hot water to get them straight

no i meant box braids w/o extensions... i'm hunting for a pic now... but i just wanted to use my own hair

When I was wearing braid bangs, I would dip them in an ACV solution and let them drip dry so that they'd hang straight down. But I'd braid to the ends as close as I could get to the ends anyway then do twists. If you are natural, I would advise against leaving the ends out coz you will most surely get knots.

Maybe wrapping the braids around your head would make them dry straight? Kinda like how I did my extension braids here.

I can't STAND for my hair to be braided to the ends, so I request that my braider leaves some hair out. What I end up doing is wetting my hair daily concentrating on the ends and I MIGHT put some aloe vera gel on them. My hair has different textures so some areas will have curlier ends than others.

Your hair is naturally curly from the roota to the toota so I can't see how you would have straight ends without damaging them.
