Ok, i havent gotten braids since i was like 14 or sth. And i sure didnt take care of it liek cleaning and keeping refreshed and stuff. Im sure ill need like only one product to maintain it. or could i make something myself? Im nto even sure what to do and how to start so i need suggestions please? And oh, they're actually twists extensions not braids. And oh! i found sedal products at my local farmers market and shea butter!!!! LOLZ

lol...yah i need something to use on my scalp so it doesnt dry out. and something that can actually stop my hair from being damaged while in the braids. and i dont want the buildup that happens at the roots. so i need something for all that. so basically, a scalp cleanser, scalp refresher and hair moisture. my friend that did it said to use hair oil spray like the ones in cans with alcohol. and since she's not a member of LHCF, im a little wary about that. sorry im a little random....i hope this version makes sense

I don't like putting too much product in my braids so I use things in applicators that will prevent dripping.

It may be different with twists, but I have micros with indian remy hair and I prefer to to keep them clean fro more body and movement.

My scalp never drys out when I use Isoplus Braids Locks & Twists Scalp Moisterizer which is my favorite right now. I put that on my scalp carefully avoiding the length of the braid. I like to use the Sulfur 8 medicated scalp treatment for braids. That gives me a nice tingle on my scalp.

When I use remy hair I never have to put too much moisturizer on the the braid itself , but I massage leave-in creams down the length of the braid a few times a week and wash them once a week. I prefer Profectiv root health or Bhring-raj Oil.

In the past (of if I use synthetic which drys my hair out) I have used Better Braids Spray (also the leave-in by them). These are medicated and really help you avoid itching; I have also use StaSoftFro with synthetic hair. Synthetic hair dries my hair out so badly!! I use more product then.

I would recommend witch hazel or sea breeze as a scalp cleanser, african royal braid spray, scurl no drip (diluted works best for me) as a moisturizer & sulfer 8 braid/scalp treatment for both braids & scalp. I personally dont use anything on my scalp when I'm in braids, other than witch hazel to keep it clean & wash/condition weekly.

I agree about the witch hazel. I like the one by Thayers for sensitive skin because it is alcohol free and smells nice.

I used Sta Sof Fro when I had braids and that was the best! I still love it. In order to avoid build up at the roots with your moisturizing product, apply it in your hands first and then run it down your braids/ twist. Do not spray directly into your scalp, as this will contribute to build up. Ocassionally I use castor oil on the length of my braids too- every week.
HTH!

thanks everyone! i think ill get only the witch hazel and ill get the one by thayers since it doesnt have alcohol............

thanks cichelle! i will also get the sulphur 8 braid spray or african royale braid spray for moisture......

My hair's in braids right now, and I have synthetic hair, so it's more drying to my hair.

I wash the braids weekly with diluted shampoo. I use a leave in conditioner and I spray with a water/carrot oil etc. mixture to seal. I twice daily moisturize with a mixture of water, better braids spray, aloe vera juice, leave-in condish and one/two drops of tea tree and lavender EO. I do my scalp and the braid.

They do have some with alcohol, so be careful. They have a Rosewater one, a Lavender one and a sensitive skin one - all of which are alcohol free.
