Braidouts

What is the purpose of them and can they be considered a protective style? What are your thoughts and opinions and styling tips? Thanks in advance!

The purpose of wearing a braidout is that it's a beautiful hairstyle and it's easy to do. From what I've learned, it's considered protective because there is little manipulation and no heat. I'm still experimenting with this style, which I really love.

To me it's just a hairstyle and not protective as your ends are left out. I think the more creative you get with it, the better the outcome.

I wear top middle part clipped and the rest hanging out (i also braid my hair like that at night so i don't have to do anything other than take out the braids, separate and viola). Also, my braidouts don't 'poof' out like they use too so i ain't complaining

Braidouts for me (I do them on my micro braids) allow me to wear a wavy style without the need for crimping irons or any other heat styling tool. They are also good in that they reduce the need for manipulation, since when you undo the braids/cornrows used to create the style, you do not need to comb your hair. Your gentle fingers are all you need to style them. Less combing, means less tugging at your hair and hence less wear/tear and breakage of your strands.

I love to wear braid outs becuase it gives the allusion that I have thicker hair. I love the wavy look. It is healthier way of achievign the wavy look without using heat. I consider it a protective style becasue you are do very minimilist things to keep the hair in good condition.
