For those of you with individuals, twists, or cornrows- please tell us how long it took for the style to be completed. Please also mention whether you did them yourself, had a family member or friend, or went to a salon to get them done. I'd like Sengalese twist next, and want to know about how long I'll be in the salon.

Normally it takes about 2-4 hours (depending on how small) for me to get cornrows. A friend from my cosmetology class does mine.

I just got back from getting my hair cornrowed up for an updo for tomorrow (Christmas). My mom did it, she is VERY slow, it took like 2.5 hours. She had trouble combing through my 8 months of newgrowth  I also do my own braid extensions and that takes me about 12hours to do, I do them a little bit thinner than 1/2 the width of a pencil.

i go to the salon to get about 6 or 8 medium cornrows it takes about an hour maybe hour and a half

I go to a salon and after I've been washed and conditioned, It seems like it takes her about 30- 45 minutes to do 16 flat twists and style the bun area. And that's with me asking her to re-do some of them if they are too tight. She works fast.

I have sengalese twists now :) ...You can see the pics in my album....I went to the salon to get them done, and it took 5 hours!

Last month I had kinky twists...i went to a braiding salon...took about ten hours :( But I liked them:). The pics are in my album.

HI Melodee. My Senegalese twists took only 5 hours to complete. My neighbor had her sister do them for me. I still have to post the pics. Maybe I can get my mother take a snapshot of them tomorrow.

cornrows usually take 1-1.5 hrs at the hair school
micros took 8hrs at the african shop in harlem
individuals about the size of a pinky 3hrs with my old regular 8hrs the 1st time i ever got them

I've had individuals a few times and they took ~8 hrs. One braider, done in a salon. She was the best. I know some local salons use 2 braiders on one head, but that's bad luck. :nono:

Larger individuals usually take 5-6 hours for my braider to complete. The braids that I have now are pretty small, and much to my dismay, they took 11 hours to complete. I'm taking them out after about 7.5 weeks and I'm not sure that I got my 11 hours worth of wear out of them, but they gots to go (miss my own hair).

16 hours. That's how long it took me to braid my hair with extension. I did over a three-day period. :)

I got individuals for the first time a couple months ago...kept them for 2 months and they took 8 hours.

If I get a cornrowed style, it takes about 1 to 2 hours and I keep them for maybe 2 weeks.

I have had tree braids and those took about 3.5 to 4.5 hours. The first time it lasted 2 months and the second time it lasted one month.

When I used to get box braids, it used to take 8-9hrs (I don't have that type of patience anymore)

I've started doing my own two strand twists and it takes me about 3 hours.
