Ok, I did a search to see if I could find and answer to this but I didn't. To all you ladies that had/have individual braids, did you take all of them out, waited a bit, and put them back in? or Did you just take down some that were loose and re-braid them, and eventually replacing the all loose ones throughout? I know some people will leave their braids in for months with that technique, where some people insist you should take all the braids out and replace them that way.

I have always worn mine for months to a year+ taking out ONE at a time and redoing it, before moving on to another...and so on till all the loose ones had been redone. I do not undo several.

This time though, I'm going to try to undo all after a few months and stay out of them for a while, before putting them back in. Not too thrilled about doing this, but I need to get acquainted w/ my hair as it grows so I that I never again need to seek help from SHS for hair that grew without my knowing it coz I had it hidden in braids for years. *sigh*

I would do braids and twists for 6-8 weeks at a time and then rest my hair for about a week to two weeks anytime I did braids or twists with extension hair.

During that time I would do deep conditioning, lots of co washing, bagging and other things that I could not do while the braids or twists were in my hair.

I keep mine for 7-8 week replacing any that need it (one at a time). At the end of the 7-8 weeks I take them all down; dc, henna, indigo, and bun it for 1-2 weeks.

i usually keep mine in 2 months at a time. (sometimes i'll redo the edges at a month and a half) but two months is usually as long as i can go, otherwise i have braids sitting on top of an inch of newgrowth:lol: not cute

I am in braids right now and almost at week 3. My edges, nape, and ear areas need to get redone badly! I plan on keeping braids in for 6-8 weeks, hopefully, redoing the sections as needed. I forgot that this is the time that my hair grows the fastest. Maybe I shouldn't get braids again since they'll have to get redone every 3 frigging weeks.

I am braided now and hope to be for several more months. Almost every night, I find several braids that are loose or too fuzzy and rebraid them. Its absolutely necessary because I swim, work out almost daily, and my hair is very fine (means:extra fuzz:lol: )

Anky and Bluewatersoul, that's what I'm going through now! I was trying to leave these things in for 2 months but they're already loose! I wish I knew how to braid so I could re-place them myself.:(

I did this for 11 months one time (this was years ago). My goal was to keep them for a year but I didn't quite make it.

I currently in individuals right now I got individual in March 10st and I had to take them out April 7th (The new growth was growing in fast:) ) I let my hair rest for a week and did a deep conditionong treatment and did the baggy method the entire week I was out of the braids. I got a new set of braids done 2 weeks ago I hopeful I can keep them in longer than 4 weeks but at the rate I am going probably not.
