Progress...not perfection
... I did it. The BC.

Pray for me cuz when my mama wakes up she's gonna go ballastic. Seriously.

WHY does my head have to be so flat in the back? Oh well I can't do anything about it now. And can someone teach me how/what to use to pull my hair back so the front of it lays back like when you do a puff? Maybe I just dont have the right tools but these headband thingys I have arent cutting it. I did it myself so its not even. You cant really tell because tho, since I gelled it and it's curly. I have maybe 3 inches or so. I'll have it evened up later. Why did that Curly Girl book have to come this weekend? Putting all those radical dreams and thoughts of freedom in my head. I had planned on transitioning for a year but that book along with the nightmare of trying to wear my hair straight this weekend pushed me over the edge. I actually like it but I'm VERY nervous because my family, friends and co workers are going to freak out. Time to update my siggy...

:lachen: Girl you are crazy. Congrats on the BC. I think within the next year or two I am going to transition. It's so funny because I, too, worry about what others may think. As far as pulling your hair back have you thought about colorful scarfs. I see many natural women who wear them like a headband. There are alot of beautiful naturals here so you'll receive good advice.

congrats. why don't you get some tiny tiny flexi rods & a moistuzing spray & and wear your hair curly until you get more length? I think that might be cute and then you don;t have to worry about the uneveness.

U go girl! is yr nat. hair curly? My hair has grown so much since iI cut it. Don't worry, it will grow quickly.

Congrats!! You'll LOVE it!! And that is really all that matters. If you love it they'll accept it!

Everyone...thanx for the support!! I need the encouragement!!

Cherokee...scarves and the circular headbands tend to ride up because the back of my head is so flat... :( ...I dont have the lil pretty shaped heads some folx have...I'll figure something out tho.

Bajan...I don't know if I have the patience for that but maybe I can sucker..er ..persuade one of my friends to help me. :)

Natrl...Its not what I consider naturally curly where you can just wash and go w/o product but it has a wavy/curly kind of pattern and if I put gel or something in it it curls up...I don't how its going to look when it dries though, it looks as though its going to be frizzy/curly and I think I have "scab" hair too. I think I'm a 3c/4a but I'm not sure. It sure is thicker than I remember but there are parts toward my nape that seem kind of thin.

Tai & CandiceC... I bought a camera for Christmas, I will have a friend take a couple of pics this weekend. Anyone know how to photoshop a triple chin?? :)

Thanx everyone for the encouragement and kind words. I'm feeling a lot more confident about my choice now. :) My mom has calmed down and gone from shaking her head everytime she sees me to talking to folx on the phone about it. "Yeah, Susan cut her hair again but it grows like a weed." Hopefully that will be true as I can use surge again. I had stopped using it during my transistion because it made my roots puffy. Again, thanx everyone!!!
