How many ladies still blowdry and how do you go about it? I have tried to go without it but my hair becomes too tangled when I don't do it. It is too thick and it is underprocessed in some places. Any ladies have this problem?

I get lots of tangles if I wear my hair down which is underprocessed on the left side. I'm been tempted in the past to blowdry so as to diminish the problem but I'm so reluctant to use heat because it wreaks havoc on my hair. Guess for now, I'll continue to wear my daily bun.

My breaks more when I do not blow dry it because of the tangles. When I blowdry I only do it when my hair is about 60 to 70 % dry. Last night I used S-curl to blowdry and it came out soft. I don't know if that was the best idea though.

Have you tried detangling your hair under running water and putting it in a few loose braids to dry. This works wonders.

When your hair is almost dry you can comb it straight and you shouldn't have any tangles. You have to be very gentle though.

Also have you tried air drying with the ponytail method. It will help get that underprocessed hair straight without the use of a dryer.

I still blowdry. I never really stopped but I don't do it a lot. Maybe once a month. I just love to wear my hair down and slightly wavy or straight.
After washing and conditioning I blow dry with a big round brush. I tried so many blow drying lotions and serums but the best for my hair is still pink oil. The results are always amazing. The product is so cheap but it gives my hair just enough moisture and sheen and it's never greasy. My hair is just super dry.

My 16 y/o niece uses (and LOVES) pink oil for blow drying her hair. Her hair always looks nice and healthy.

DSD I have tried all those methods and none seem to work for me. Even when I detangle my hair my new growth curls up and that is what tangles the rest of my hair. I will try the pink oil and see out that works for me. Thanks ladies.

I blowdry every week with no problems. I also flat iron on the same day. I detangle while my conditioner is in, rinse, apply my blowdrying agent, then blowdry with a comb attachment. I invested in an ion dryer, that works wonders. I condition my hair very well and have found products that work for me so using heat has never been a problem. I've tried to air dry my hair and it always been a disaster!

It totally depends on if you have really strong hair. I can not grow long hair if I did it, but my friend has been going to an Egyptian shop every week and she went from 3 inches of dry, broken ends to shoulder length, shiney, healthy hair in less than a year.

It also helps to have a good blowdry protection lotion on your hair.

I blowdry once a week so when I do this I tend to dry 50% of my hair and do the baggie technique or a braidout.

Crysdon is right, it depends on what type of hair you have. I have a cousin who blowdrys everyday...and her hair is to her waist, Oprah thick and not a dry or split end in sight. I can't blowdry more than twice a week without feeling a difference in the texture of my hair, but thats just me. There is no "one size fits all" remedy for hair care, you have to find out what works for you and stick with it.

I used to attach my blowdryer to a bonnet and use it as a hooded dryer, but my blowdryer died and I havn't bought a new one since. But, when I did blow dry, I always put a moisturizer and leave in conditioner on my hair to protect against heat damage. Now I use 911 Heat Protection Cream when I use the hood dryer.

I blowdry about 2-3x a month. I try not to blowdry every week but when I do I always use a heat protectant (John Frieda's Blow Dry Straightening Creme is da bomb!) & I use alot of moisturizer afterwards.

I think if you don't blow dry tooo much (I'm talking every day) but once a week and you always condition and take good care of your hair, it should still grow. But that is just my humble opinion.
I also agree that a heat protectant is very important when blowdrying and the technique is also important.

I still blowdry when I am pushed for time usually 3-4 times
a month and I use L'anza Leave-in Proctector and I have not
had any major problems.

I agree with you Nay. I find that I can get away with letting my hair air dry for about 6 weeks after my touch up. After that, I have to do something to keep it from looking like a big ol frizzball. Keeping my hair very moisturized and the baggie treatment help out a lot. Applying coconut milk to that new growth seems to soften it some so that I get better results from my blowdry

i don't blow dry because i just feel that it never really worked for my hair, but i do rollersets. i always get great results. i have never had damage from rollersetting. i seem to get dryness and spilt ends from blowdrying, even when i use a protector or leave in. just like all the women said everyone's hair is different. i have very thick 4a hair.

I blow dry & use a ceramic flatiron, each week...I can't seem to get the roller set right, and when I air dry my hair becomes so dry, and seem to break more. So when I blow dry,my hair is about 50% drt. So far I haven't seen any major impact on my hair. But I do throughly believe that it has a lot to do with the conditioner that you use to "prep" you hair.

i rarely blow dry (i rollerset most of the time) but when i do i make sure that i use the keracare silken seal. it is the best (imo) serum to use when blow drying...you don't get that dry, puffy, dull look...you get straight, smooth, & silky results w/silken seal.

you also have to blow dry your hair in small sections (3x1)to get the smooth results that your stylist gets.

also, a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner is helpful too.

I used to blowdry my hair every other day,and i could get away with it,but now i have a lot of split ends and breakage so i don't blowdry as much as before.
I'm currently searching for a heat protectant.
Those mentioned above are not for sale here.

Does anyone know other good blowdry protection lotions??

I blowdry maybe once a month or once every few months. I wash, deep condition, moisturize, and apply a heat protectant. Then I sit under the hooded dryer until my hair is about 80% dry. Then I blow dry using a dryer with a comb attachment or I use a round brush. The I apply some oil and flat iron my hair. I prefer rollersets to blowdrying.

I blowdried last night with my ORS Olive Oil Moisturizer and Hot 6 Oil, and I must say that I am happy.

ORS is great for blowdrying too.
