I don't remember the last time I blew out my hair after a wash. Its been years. I always do it after a rollerset. But I was wondering if i did try to straighten my hair this way. What is the best way of doing it? has anyone done this with decent results?
At the salon, they could get my hair straight from using a brush and the blow dryer with the concentrator nozzle or whatever its called. I have to use the comb attachment because I'm not good with coordinating both hands. I also could never get it as straight as they could but that could be because theirs can get hotter. I have a pic of my blow dryed hair in my fotki.
I cant blow dry with a round brush to save my life and the other conventional blow dryers wth comb attachments were too awkward too handle for long periods of time. I did ok with a paddle brush but my hair was still pretty puffy and I had to keep going over the section repeatedly to make sure that I got the roots. but this Conair dryer from Walgreens has made all the difference. its sually 24.99 but I got it for 20 on sale based on a friends rec. Its great and Friday was the second time aI used it - got my hair so straight that i didnt even flat iron
I never blowdry from wet to dry. I wait with Aphogee Green Tea in my hair until it is semi dry. Then I blow lightly on Medium heat. I do this mostly to make sure the NG and length of my hair is detangled and stays this way. Actually my hair LIKES a little heat. I think it activates the products I use into my hair . The Aphogee green tea instructions actually say that it is activated by heat. It is so true for my hair.
After that I rarely flat iron, just do my protective styles.
I always blow dry with a comb attachment and downward strokes as was mentioned. Then I use my curling iron (1 1/2 inch) to straighten/curl with large curls. I end up with the same bounce and shine as a rollerset without all the time and manipulation and it works for me. Use a good heat protectant, I use Mizani Therma Strength and a little JCS Nourish and Shine when my hair is almost dry.
