Blow Dryer for Dominican Blowouts

I want to replicate the famous Dominican blowouts myself but need recommendations on the type and brand of blow dryer I should buy. What wattage or features should I look for? TIA

Not sure of the brand, but 1875 watts should be good enough. I'm interested in some brand recommendations as well. My blow dryer is dying a slow death...

I have a Conair Ion Shine 1875 watt double ionic port dryer that I love. Although I haven't used it on my hair in about 2 months because im trying to stay away from heat its a really good dryer. I used it last night to dry my friends hair (she's about 14 weeks post relaxer) and her hair came out fabulous. On a side note you also have to think about what products you use because that will effects how your hair comes out as well. HTH

Like I read on another board, 'the blow dryer from hell' should work just fine.

I love how my hair looks after getting my roots blow dried at a Dominican salon, but those blow dryers can get mighty hot.

I asked my stylist how many watts her dryer had when I had my blowout done for Easter. She said 2600 watts

. Super-hot but it got this transitioner's hair straight

All I know is that the blow dryers they use get really really hot and if you don't know how to manuver the blow dryer, you can get some serious damage. Also, the blow outs are not just based on the blow dryer but it's a technique with the brush and the dryer at the same time...It's really hard to replicate on your own but if you master it that is awesome

Where in the world do you get a 2600 Watt blowdryer from??

I have a Conair Champion 1600 Watt blow dryer and it works very well for straightening my hair along with a brush. I've had it for about 15 years and it still works great.

One of the keys is to position the nozzle at the right angles.

I don't even know where she got her dryer from...I can't even remember the name, sorry

I kept glancing at the dryer though and sure enough there was "2600" written down the side of it.

Today I bought the "Vidal Sassoon Professional Ionic 1875 Watt Digital Ceramic Ion" dryer. The thing is pipin' hot. I can't imagine what 2600watts feel like. Do you know if your stylist had it on high?

I think that she had it on high. I was like five months post relaxer at the time and she still had to use a lot of elbow grease to get my hair straight.
