I've been trying to find threads on this. I know it was popular for a while. Does anyone still do it? What were the benefits and what was your process? Does it thicken up your hair? What did your hair feel like after rinses? Did you have any problems with it? Where are the threads?

i did it and almost had a heart attack, but it works! i used it to stop some excessive shedding i had going on after getting a hold of some bad color.

just don't be a retard like me and use 8 tea bags and let is sit on your hair/scalp. use one or two and just rinse the hair with it and rinse out!

I was about to come in here and say, I used it to curb my shedding. But be very careful cause a couple of us had a bad experience from the caffeine. And I do believe it was shortdub78 and I, and someone else, can't think off hand. But, I suffer from Anxiety Disorder, and that rinse had my heart racing, I had shortness of breath, I had the jitters. And becaue of the AD, I was shaky for almost a week.

Thanks. Did it darken your hair? Im thinking about coloring my hair. I want it to be a deep dark brown. Like the almost black and I had read somewhere that it thickens hair also and that is definitely what I want.

I will pass then. I'm just looking for a way to thicken up my hair. I don't have a problem with shedding or breakage. I've had issues with my heart in the past. I took some NyQuil and it put me in the hospital. I'm scared of committing to henna still, lol.

When I see too many shed hairs for my taste, I'll use either green or black tea rinsing. I grab any brand, Lipton even, and steep one or two bags in a few cups of water. After washing or cowashing, I rinse my hair with the tea. I put a moisturizing conditioner on top of the tea, slap a plastic cap on and sit for at least 20 minutes. Afterwards, styling is not so painful because the shedding has stopped dead in it's place. Extremely effective for me.

Yes!......I Love Black Tea Rinses! I use it after I rinse out my DC'er. :yep:

I'll pour it on, slap on a plastic cap, put away the products I used and towels. (Maybe 20 minutes or so).

Come back, Rinse and use a Finishing Rinse to seal everything in. Either HV ACV Rinse, Roux PC, Nexxus Ensure or BFH's Shine Rinses.

Never noticed any unusual darkening. Definitely Helps with Shedding!

IA with InBloom and IDareT'sHair....I make up a gallon of black tea at a time and keep it in the fridge. After every wash or co-wash I warm some up and rinse with it, apply DC and steam for about 20 - 30 minutes. Rinse out and do a final ACV rinse. So all in all I black-tea-rinse at least twice a week.

I have not noticed any darkening effects to my hair and I've been doing it for a year. And I have not had any seasonal, excessive shedding.

It will always be a staple and a process in my regimen.

My tea of choice is Earl Grey.

Pompous Blue I also make up Gallon Jugs of Black Tea to Rinse. And Like Blue, I do it each time I do my hair (Twice per week).

Also, like Blue said, it will always be part of my Regimen.:yep:

I use Lipton's Black Pearl Tea.

Wow @Pompous Blue and @ IDareT'sHair for rinsing that often? I'm going to do it more since it doesn't seem to have any long term drying effect (right???) for either of you.

InBloom For me the success of my regimen is dependent upon my consistently following it. It works for me. I keep up my moisture level so I have no problem with dryness, ever, with tea-rinsing, hennaing or using ayurvedic powders. I have a steamer and have been doing mud-masks weekly.

I am a 4Z natural with fine, medium-thick hair. Although some say that those with fine hair should use protein more often than others, my hair doesn't tolerate protein very well. But henna and ayurvedic powders have made my hair so strong.

Some of the moisturizing conditioners I love are
Darcy's Botanicals Pumpkin Seed Conditioner
Karen's Body Beautiful Luscious Locks Masque
Hairveda's Sitrinillah DC
Afroveda's Ashlii Amala

@Pompous Blue, I may need to try some of those conditioners, they're natural.
@InBloom
I made the decision to transition to natural after joining LHCF. I had nothing but problems with my scalp and hair when I was relaxed. After finding out about natural, handmade products from LHCF, I started to use them exclusively and all my hair and scalp issues disappeared.

I suffered from dry scalp, eczema and a thinning crown. None of that exists anymore.

So, for me, all natural was the way to go.

OP, I sincerely apologize for hijacking your thread.

I used MT heavily in the summer, so I started using BTR's to help with the shedding. I love them, and I didn't have any caffeine reactions (caffeine sensitive, and also has anxiety issues) even though I also add coffee to mine to give it a boost. I used it every time I cowashed/washed my hair which was 2-3x's a week. I totally saw the difference from using them, and felt they worked for me!

@InBloom

No issues with Dryness using it twice per week. I rinse it out (of course) after it has sat awhile. I don't leave it on over 20 minutes. And sometimes I apply and put my DC over it & Steam. (I don't do that often, but I have).

Yeah, it works Great! I love Tea Rinses.:yep:

btw: I'm relaxed.

ETA: Other Than Relaxer, I also primarily use all Natural/Handmade Products as well.
