Hello ladies! I have been MIA lately but just wanted to let you know that I did pass the bar so now I am working a lot......

Anyway, have any of you tried Bigen? I want to die my hair but I dont want it to dry out. I have a few grey strands that I want to cover too so please let me know what your experiences have been. Thanks!

I tried Bigen in the Oriental Black for the first time 3 weeks ago, and I adore the results! My hair had some areas that were a lighter shade of brown than the rest. In the beginning (first few days), my hair felt a little dry, but it's back to normal now, and the color doesn't seem to be fading at all. For $3.99, this is a keeper for me.

Bigen covers grey beautifully from what I understand (compeltel coverage and not just tinting the strands) but it can be drying. My hair got a little dry with it but whenever I want to cover something up - I use Bigen.

Beware though - it is next to impossible to remove or fade Bigen to any appreciable extent. Make sure you are ready to live with the color you choose.

I haven't used this product and don't have any advice about hair. I simply wanted to say congratulations on pasing the bar. I hope to be in your position in a few years! God Bless and much success to you.

2 things, 1) Congrat on passing the bar! That's wonderful.

2) Does Bigen make a semi-permanent color? I've only seen the permanents, but I've heard that their colors last and that's what I'm look for.

...Tracy you say that Bigen is drying, does in contain peroxide? I don't need anything that's going to dry my hair out at all .... I have a low tolerance for dry hair.

Bigen does not contain peroxide. I've used it several times and I always love how my hair feels afterwards. My hair was never dry after using Bigen. At least so far. I think it's a great color and I would always recommend it. Especially to go from highlights back to ONE color or to cover gray.

Thanks Nay!

I may give Bigen a try. Do they carry both semi-permanent and permanent colors? I'd prefer semi because I have a relaxer and I'd rather not put two chemicals in my hair. TIA

I have Bigen Dark Brown in my hair now. It's excellent and doesn't dry my hair out like Dark-N-Lovely did. It covers better to me too and I absolutely love the price...$3.99.

I recently used Bigen Oriental Black. Its great stuff, I just love that jet-black color that it gives. I didn't find it drying either.

Cleo,

it does say on the package that it is a permanent color but I made the experience that after about 3 months the color washes out. But not to the point where I would see my three grey hairs. For example when I had the oriental black, which is a blue black, in my hair after three months it looked more like a soft black, you know? But I still love the color and the results. And when it do fade I just apply it again. It doesn't matter since it won't damage your hair. I started using Bigen right before I started transitioning.

Nay, when are you going to post pics of your hair again?? Your hair pics were awesome!! How's the transitioning going??

(Sorry to hijack the post!!)

I've used Bigen as my exclusive haircolor for the last couple of years and loved the fact that its just mixed with plain tap water. No peroxide, no ammonia! Talk about staying power, now that I'd like to try a black cherry rinse, I can't! I have to either bleach it out or let it grow out if I want uniform color. So whatever color you get....MAKE SURE...it's what you can like for a while! Great product!

MoezThunder,

I used Feria in, I think Chocolate Cherry and it showed on my hair. It showed a LOT if I might add. One month after Feria I used the same shade but from Garnier Nutrisse and my hair was sooo burgundy in the light. It was a beautiful color. Then about two weeks ago I got tired of it and used Garnier Nutrisse in dark brown. It looks almost black but I love the dark hair. So now that I'm back to the dark hair next time I will use my Bigen in black brown again:).

Welcome to the club Xcellence. I'm practicing in NC, but am also licensed in NY and OH. Congratulations girl!

My stylist, Bren just put Bigen in my hair last week at my insistence (if that's a word). She had used something else before, Attitudes, I think it was called. That mess didn't last a good 2 weeks before my gray hairs were in the front doing the wave again. B doesn't dry my hair either and the color is nice and lasting. I think you'll be really pleased!

Thanks for your well wishes and the info on Bigen. I am still contemplating it b/c when I dyed my hair years ago I ended up cutting a lot of it since it dried out terribly. Plus my hair is not black black but more of a black/brown if that makes sense and I only want to dye the front so what olor would u ladies suggest?
