Sidestepping the "lynch mob"

It's my second time transitioning and finally I got the nerve to do the big chop -- again. The first time, I'd kept the new growth as an afro and started twisting right away. This time, I mowed it down!!!! I had about 3-4 ins of new growth and was trying to do the 2-texture thingy, but it was getting kinda hectic

My new style (sorry I'll have to post the pic later) is Zhane short, faded on sides/back. Oh! I love the freedom!
I'll wear the new look for three months but will start growing at the start of the year. That's IF I don't fall in love w/ the 'do forever

Congrat, Laela!

When I transitioned (via braids), I never had the nerve to a big chop until about 9 months down the road. What an accomplishment. Happy to hear you love the new cut

The closest I have gotten to a big chop, is cutting some of my ragedy relaxed ends off in the very back, right before I got my braids the other day and I have been transitioning for 9 months! Hopefully I will be as big as you in January when I take these braids out. Congrats!

CarmelKiss.. you know, a black male co-worker was floored and ended up telling me a woman has to have a LOT of confidence in herself to pull that off. He made my day...

I really will have to get a digital camera to show you guys the 'do!

CH: Thanks for the props!

Premierpearl, SingingStar Thanks ladies. You made my day!

Delightful flame Thanks, and I'm loving your twists. As fickled as I am, I may end up twisting before the 3 months of profiling this style is up

DDhair GO FOR IT!! It's just hair, it'll grow back

Right now, the only major difference, is my scalp gets a lot of tension -- the kind you get from new growth, just before a touch up. I'd put castor oil on the roots and I swear I felt the hair growing with all the tension. I'm getting used to it now, though...and I can't pass a mirror w/out stopping to look and grin ..HA!

I forgot to add, I envy you a little Laela I remember my big chop and I so loved my TWA days. Sometimes I'm tempted to do another chop
