I got a relaxer at 10 weeks post this morning. I had an excessive amount of breakage, mostly because my roots were sooooo thick it was too time consuming to moisturize as much as necessary. Unfortunately, the breakage I've been receiving lately has thwarted my progress and caused thin ends. What should I do? Trim them, baggy them, grow out to my goal (MBL) then trim, leave them alone, or apply a certain product?

cut them. if the hair is gone from breakage, its gone. I guess you could use TLC on them and trim gradually if you dont want to cut it all off now.

If You are Going to "Stretch" You have to Invest The Time to Do Your Due Dilligence to Keep Your Hair in Tip Top Shape or your Stretching will be in Vain.:nono:

So, You Will Definitely have to take the time to keep your hair Properly Moisturized, Especially the New Growth. You will have to Focus on the Line of Demarcation and You will have to Find a Good Healthy Balance of Protein/Moisture. And you will have to keep your hair detangled as best you can and remove shed hair, tangles & knots.:ohwell:

Stretching is exactly that. An Investment in the Time and Effort You Put Forth to Care for Your Hair. That is the only way, you are going to be successful at Length Retention.:look:

Having said all that, because I have been thinking the same thing: To Trim or Not to Trim, I think I am going to wait until I am closer to one of my short-term goal points before I trim.:yep:

are you sure your ends are thinning? it may just be your hair growing in its natural layers

How do you normally wear your hair? If you normally wear it up or curly, maybe you should wait to trim until you pass your goal length and trim back up to the goal length. If you normally wear it down and straight, maybe you should just dust as you progress toward your goal.

I just had this same issue. Should I stick with the raggedy almost APL, or let it go and try to start over from SL? I got the trim because I can't with the scraggly ends. I just... can't. I try, but I get mad, and annoyed, and paranoid about breakage. So, I'm not happy with my length, at all, but I'm happier than I would have been. Hope that helps.

ps, I wear my hair out a lot, which means I need the ends looking tight.
