I would like to know what are the most important tips to keep new growth soft. I am type 4a. I want to take it week by week:lachen:.

ok so what are they? and please no cowashing.

Make sure to diligently deep condition and moisturize your new growth. And keep it detangled as much as possible.

Hey gissell :)

My friend Bianca transistioned and she is a 4a. I didn't even know she was transitioning until she was like 8 months into it. The way she did it was by washing and deep conditioning every 5-7 days, sectioning the hair and either banding it while it air dried or blow drying it and smoothing with a flat iron. She clipped her hair up most of the time or wore it really curly with pin curls. About 8 months into her transition, she got a sew in and just left her bangs out. She is now over a year post and gets her sew in redone every 2 months.

I am back and forth with the issue but if I were to do it, my hair would be straight majority of the time and I would just wash less often.

I am very back and forth with it lol I will take it week by week as if i was stretching see how far i get.

keep the tips coming ladies

Weekly deep conditioning with Silk Elements or Pantene R&N Mask and using a leave in is keeping my new growth soft. I use coconut oil in between wash days if I am heat styled. If I am in a bun or ponytail I use Dove Moisturizing Mist spray between wash days.

No daily cowashing for me either during a Chicago fall or winter.

I plan on just washing once a week and blow dry/ roller set/ wrap until the summer. In the summer, I'd co wash 1- 2x a week and bun until the cooler weather. DC once a month. I have no issues yet as far as transitioning goes thanks to my regimen. I hope to make it 16 months minimum transition.:drunk::lachen:
