Best flat iron for new growth?..and best heat protectant to use with it

I read the thread for the best flat iron..but i need one that can straighten my new growth with minimal damage to my hair and ends.Also any suggestions for the best heat protectant I can use with it.I'm trying to do my hair at home and eliminate the dominican salons all together.I find out my hair is healthier when i give it tlc at home.
