since its supposed to be a type of clarifying treatment am i supposed to wash my hair prior to utlizing? am i supposed to wet it? i've been hearing that it's really thin and messy when using with water, can i add honey to it to thicken it up without adverse effects?

well through a little trial and error and some youtube browsing after the fact, i've found the answers. next time i'll do it on damp hair and i'll add oil/honey.

well i mix mine like a week in advance ( a big batch). Compared to mixing it a few hrs, it does not swell like it should. I found it works better when left in a closed container for a few days.

I clarify my hair with dr. bronners soap first while in sections and then I apply the clay to my hair. Since its been sitting for days its really thick and it never drips.

Adding honey? I never heard of that before. I guess give it a shot and see and let us know how it works. The only thing I ever added was ACV to the mix.

I done it TWICE!

The instructions on the jar said that you can mix it with either water or ACV.

The first time, I mixed the clay with water and it seemed chalky. I added it to my dry hair and let it dry . It was messy and very hard to rinse out. I really could NOT tell a differnce afterwards.

The second time, I mixed the clay with acv and it fizzed and mixed to become like pancake batter. I applied it to my damp hair (from leave-in and baggie) and let it dry. When I rinsed it out this time.....my natural hair had great softness and slip!

This is very messy, but can be easily rinse with water if done right away.

what does the clay do for your hair? i've used it on my face before.
It's devine on the face and devine in the hair. I use mine on dry hair and apply like it's a relaxer. It's supposed to be the consistency of a relaxer. I don't know if adding things to it will change anything but me personally, I don't fool with things too much by adding stuff that the original directions don't call for.

I use this on my face 1 or 2 times a week and I love it. My pores get clogged and this is the only solution for me. Maybe I should try this on my hair....

I tried this tonight. My hair was dry and whateva. It was dirty before I did the bentonite.

I mixed some water, bentonite clay, and honey in a big glass bowl. So about
1 c of bentonite
3/ c of water
1/2 c of very warm honey

Mixed and mixed and mixed. Then I applied in sections from root to tip of hair. I applied it to my scalp and face. I let it dry for 45 minutes I got preoccupied with DD and other stuff. Then I rinsed it all out. Took a while in the shower. Then I applied my Kenra conditioner and I am happy with the results.

My hair was different. I don't know it was fantastic soft and had a lovely texture. I describe this as happy hair.

I will be using it as a clarifier after my hair was dirty and going through some stuff. I get it to bounce back after me trying out different products and co-washing for a while.

It is pretty inexpensive too. --TQ

i wanna try this for my hair and skin but i am confused about some things...

1. what is the difference between using water and acv?
2. do i use it followed by a conditioner?
3. is there a need for shampoo after?

duh, i didn't think to warm my liquids either. im thinking i may use some warm coconut milk and warm honey next time.

i think i'll use this once a month to clarify. i follow with a conditioner.

When using Bentonite clay, I add honey and olive oil to mine. This mix works really well for me. My hair is very dry and fluffy without feeling stripped. I alway do a deep conditoner afterwards.
