Hi ladies! I was noticing that rollersetting is all the rage on the forum now. Almost all of my permed life, I have dried my hair via rollersets. For those of you who are now learning, how did you dry your hair before.
Before LHCF I used to blow dry it all the time and curl it with a curling iron daily .....when I first came on lhcf I did airdrying in a ponytail with little success bc my hair was jacked up beyond repair. This time around (after a BC and being natural for a year, then texlaxing this year)...Ive been doing wash n go's, or air drying in a ponytail. I think rollersets will be better at smoothing the cuticle and making the ends stay smooth/prevent them from splitting. Time willl tell!
Prior to my hair care journey i would blowdry with comb attachment to dry. Once I started caring and paying more attention to my hair I went to airdrying in a bun, for the past couple of months or so Ive been rollersetting. Hands down rollersetting is the best method for me to dry my hair.
Thanks for your responses ladies. I was just curious about this. Rollersetting is definitely one of the best ways to go for a smooth look without intense heat. I'm a bit hippocritical because I'm now drip drying under the hood, then on the the blow dryer.
I blowdried and flat-ironed and still was making progress. I rollerset now mainly because I finally learned how and I think it's fun (Yes, it's ok...you can call me a dork. Everyone does )
A wet wrap and then sitting under the dryer. My hair is fine and always dried pretty fast and smooth with a wet wrap. Then she'd take the wrap down and bump it with a curling iron. I only really got rollersets when I wanted curls or was getting a roller wrap. That's how my hairdresser always did it. She never blow dried anybody's hair. But on ladies with long hair or extra thick hair, she would rollerset it so it would dry faster.
I can't answer the poll because my option is not there. Basically, I learned how to rollerset FIRST. I didn't own a blowdryer or curling iron until four years AFTER I got my first relaxer.
And, in the grand scheme of things, I wish I'd never owned a blowdryer or curling iron. I also wish I hadn't let my cousin talk me into becoming a red head my senior year of high school. It took years to undo all that damage.
I would do a wet wrap at night and hot curl my hair in the morning. Or I would slick down the front with brown gel and sit under the hair dryer until it was 85% dry. I would put a couple of large rollers in the back and hot curl my hair in the morning.
