I have a question for all the ladies who uses braids with extensions. What reggie do you use right before you get your hair braided? Shampoo? Conditioner? DC? And so on....And how well it worked for you. Or how it didnt work.

Me: I plan on washing with what shampoo Im not sure yet
Conditioner Not sure on either
Deep Conditoner : LeKair Cholesterol Plus

Then I plan to rinse and blow dry and get my braids!!!!

Yup - that is basically what I do before Braiding, I Shampoo,Deep Condition
Apply my Chi Silk so that I can blow dry
Then I oil my scalp with Coconut oil.

And then its time to braid.

1. DC on dry hair w/ Aphogee 2-min for 10 minutes under heating cap
2. Shampoo my hair w/ Earthly Delight Herbal Shampoo while the Aphogee is still in my hair
3. Condition my hair w/ Karen's Body Beautiful Deep Conditioner
4. Apply Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-In & Jane Carter Solution Hair Nourishing Cream to each section of my hair
5. Braid my hair
6. Put JC Leave-In & KBB hair oil on my ends

I am by no means and expert but here is my regimen:

1) Shampoo with Ghanaian Black Soap. Prevents my hair from having that stripped feeling I get with a lot of other shampoos.
2) Deep Condition with Pantene Relaxed & Natural Hair Mask.
3) Braid hair into large sections with shea butter while damp; allow hair to dry.
4) Light heat protectant. Lightly flat iron my hair.

I flat iron my hair because I don't braid it myself and I know a lot of braiders, once they feel a snag, will rip right through your hair barely stopping to pause. The light flat iron insures my hair is straight and that they will have to do as little "detangling" with their rat tail comb as possible. :lachen:

i shampoo regularly.
15 minute DC with protein (Aphogee 2 min).
20 minute DC with something moisturizing.
I airdry for a bit.
then I blowdry it.

I make sure its straight and detangled (which it is after blowdrying) because they comb through it a lot. Also, I make sure I put on some type of moisturizer and oil on it, because if my hair doesn't feel like it has anything on it, they put grease in it.

I don't do anything special from my regular regimen, because I don't change my regimen when I have the braids in either. Usually because I do my DCs on weekends and usually that's also when I braid my hair, I wish shampoo, DC, and ACV rinse in plaits. Then airdry in them and start braiding.

This time I used JustKiya's tip of only parting with the comb the sections I intend on exposing on while styling my completed braids, before washing...so that I won't need to use a comb once I'm done with washing to part the rest of my hair when braiding. I did my parting in a pie-chart way (see attachment) before washing my hair and made an effort not to mess the parts even when I had to undo to comb during the washing and conditioning. This was how my hair was before I braided (I do not press or blow dry before braiding):

The week or two before I get my hair braided, I alternate deep conditioning and protein treatments with Aphogee 2 min miracle. I am getting my hair done tomorrow in micro tree braids and I am co-washing with Olive Oil Hair One, and deep conditioning with BioInfusion Olive Oil Deep Conditioning Treatment. Then I will apply some coconut oil/MoroccanOil mixed to my hair, air-dry 80% and blow dry the rest of the way. I have a relaxer (4 wks post), so I will just oil my scalp and put it in a ponytail until tomorrow.

I always try to do some kind of protein or protein-like treatment along with my normal washing and conditioning.

I see I might have to try this aphogee!!! I used to use it when I was super relaxed. I just didn't like helmet hair...is it best to apply it I dry hair, go under the dryer then wash and condition?

since you weren't quoting me, i hope i am answering right -- aphogee 2 min, NOT aphogee 2 step. no helmet hair should be involved. i actually just mix in the 2 min with my regular DC for a protein boost.

Yea I hadt tried the 2 min yet but its on my shopping list....When i Dc I usually go under for 30-60 min. I just might add this and see what the difference is!!!
