So I wasn't supposed to be cutting my hair until a year from now, and today wasn't planned at all. After I cleaned my room and paid some bills, I was feeling restless, like there was something else left to do.
So I called my sister, told her I was feeling impulsive and that I wanted to cut my hair. She was like, meh, why not, so I was like, okay let me get the scissors.
And thus ended my 10 month transition. Ironically, my last texlax was Sept.24th, 09, and today is July 24th, so it's been exactly 10 months.
Here's a quick backstory. I've been bald, frohawked, Rihanna cut(before she was
)weaved, braided, wigged, and everything else. When I first came to the forum I was natural after shaving off a short relaxed cut, but then I decided to texlax. I was relaxed for 2 years...dang...and my hair was strugglng to stay on my head.
Me when I came to forum, I had went from this
to this
Got bored, and caught up in wanting to relax so I starting texlaxing and using henna and did this
I really enjoyed this style....until I realized about a year later that my hair was the same exact length and was crumbling before my sorry eyes. I decided to transition, and actually kept relaxing a couple of times more, ignoring the bits of hair littering the bathroom floor, and the pieces on my fingers after styling ;until I decided enough already, and stayed with it.
My primary styles during the transition were braids, wigs, braidouts and the occasional bun.
Braidout in beginning of transition...note the same length over a year later, my hair was breaking badly ya'll
My most recent style a few weeks ago...very boring. My hair was growing nicely, but I couldn't take the differences in texture, plus my crown started to break off. Also the feel of my relaxed hair esp. when wet was majorly annoying.
So today my crazy and dry looking before
the sacrificed
and my Samuel Jackson lopsided fro with conditioner chunks after
Hope you've enjoyed this long arse post. I'm happy that I've been through so much with my hair. I've learned that any type of relaxer, heavy proteins, and heat are murder for my fine strands...that my hair grows, that I forget how thick it is, and that I'm a natural girl at heart!
I'm not sure of my hair type, and the whole typing thing is confuzzling, but I'm guessing 4a/b/3c
erplexed, there are several chunks of hair that have zero curl pattern, just tightly packed fuzz, and some looser curls. I still have some scraggles I need to trim, and it was hard getting a texture closeup.
And for randomness sake,...my favorite style ever. So simple for a lazy girl like me. I'm pretty sure when I'm much older I'll break out the shears and return.
