Hi,
I would appreciate any feedback on this one...
I've read alot of BC stories with people that are trying to go natural. Although that not my intention as I am relaxed and fairly happy that way, I have a dilemma.
My hair seems to be "self-cutting" hair! I have pieces that are snapping off anywhere from 1 inch to 1/8 of an inch from the ends of my hair.
Now, let me tell you, I have followed all the good advice you great ladies have been so generous with, but the breakage just hasn't stopped (although it's not as bad as it has been) and I haven't retained any significant length, despite having at least two and a half inches of new growth.
Should I just get a GOOD haircut in an effort to start fresh, or what?!?
I'm so annoyed...

BTW: My office is SO dry during the winter it causes my skin to flake, so I try to drink lots of fluids.

Gracias in advance!

Sorry to hear about your hair woes! Winters can be very brutal on our hair. I live in MA and the weather is harsh. This is why I'm on the bun and baggie challenges. I hardly ever wear my hair out now because its so drying.

I've been on these challenges since August. I can see that I'm retaining legnth now. I would suggest moisturizing twice daily for a couple weeks. Deep conditioning once a week and trying a few protective styles. Or maybe you could incorporate a cw during the week for added moisture.

Do you use heat regularly? That could be part of the problem too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Cee.
Actually, I use Cantu Shea Butter 2x per day on the ends and roots, and I wear a bun 80% of the time. I only wash 2x per week and then I rollerset and blow the roots out ala Domenicans. I also use Surge oil on my ends if it's really nasty out and before bed.

I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong! I used to have long hair, even when I blowdried every other day and used a Dominican relaxer so harsh it could take the paint off a car!

Could it be age? (I'm 35) or hormones or what?

Vent...vent...vent.
Thanks!

As I mentioned in another thread, you may want to get checked by your doctor to see if you are anemic. A low red blood cell count easily will break off the hair, making it shorter and shorter no matter what else you are doing right. The remedy is taking an iron supplement and eating food high in iron. It's best to get blood checked out by a doctor first.
