Thanks everyone! I just used that link and apparently there's a few stores in the city I plan on checking out.

Jamila is my fav brand. I used to buy my henna from mehandi.com (I now purchase Jamila henna from ayurnaturalbeauty.com). Mehandi is a legit establishment, but they are WAY overpriced. The henna they rebrand as henna for "African Hair" is simply Jamila 2009 or 2010(the kind in the foil pouch) placed into a box that says "Henna for African hair". I've also purchased the yemen (aka: Purity) henna from mehandi. I couldn't bring my self to use the yemen because the texture is so gritty. Jamila is very smooth, like pudding and washes out fairly easy.

You're right...pure marketing strategy, considering Africans have always hennaed their hair. They are WAY overpriced. I agree...check out ayurnaturalbeauty.com or your local Indian store. You will NOT pay 6-7-8 per 50-100 grams of henna.

I was surprised to see how much everyone was spending for their henna. The 100g boxes cost $1.99 in my area. My sister is addicted to henna-ing her hair and she has a nice stash.

I

BAQ henna costs $1.99????
what brand?:lick:

It's probably not body art quality as most professional henna artists won't and can't use the henna powder out of the local shops. It's fine enough in its sift, nor fresh enough. I have been doing professional henna art work for the last 5 yrs and won't touch the stuff. I even tried with jamila for hair one time, and it's such a big difference between use the premium henna powders that are BAQ over others. Not all henna nor herbs are BAQ.

khadija i just saw this.... which do you use for your hair?

Is Godrej Nupur Mehendi 9 Herbs considered BAQ? I have some but I don't want to use it if it's not.

Poopiedo, how is this working for you? I been thinking about purchasing this all day, but doing research and saw this thread. It looks like your hair is black in your siggy like mine, did this brand change your hair color by any chance? Thanks!

I've been faithfully, and exclusively!, using NUPUR henna for the past 2 years. Its the greatest in the world to me. I buy it at my local indian grocer here in NJ. I usually get a 200g pouch for roughtly $2.00 :yep:

u are very lucky... i can't even find these prices
