Can I get a review of this relaxer please...and if it is not one that is recommended can you please add what u think would be better and why...Thanx guys

I used bantu for a few years in college, I would use nothing else other than that. I was bone straight at the time and it did wonderfully for me!

I've used the Bantu lye and it is basically the only sodium hydroxide relaxer to ever really straighten my hair...... BUT it literally made my scalp feel like it was on fire as it was being applied! I've never burned like that before with a relaxer. I liked the results on my hair, but the pain just wasn't worth it and I won't be using it again.

I'm sorry that I can't give any recommendations on a good or better relaxer, because I'm still searching for one myself. :look:

Bantu is very strong, too strong for a lot of people's hair. Depends on the texture of your hair. I wouldn't recommend it.

I gave up the burning of traditional relaxers many years ago and went totally natural for years. Last year I discovered the Bodiphier from Fresh Look (www.Freshlook.com) I honestly love this product. It claims to be all natural like African Wonders, but that made my 3b-4a hair feel dry. The Bodiphier will not burn- even if left on longer than reccomended time. It doesn't dry hair or make it break off. Best yet, it really resists humidity. I wear my hair smooth (by blow drying or wet to dry flat iron) or curly letting it dry naturally. No frizz, I just apply some leave in conditioner and gel or mousse. Oh yeah, it doesn't change the color of my hair like regular relaxers did- my hair would turn red on the ends. Also, it will not make hair stick or bone straight. Your natural curl pattern is enhanced because it decreases the frizz, and loosens the curls. :)
Hope this helps.

ITA. I used this once and once only, not only did this stuff damage my hair but it made my scalp burn like  wha!! I taught my hair was really course but apparently it was not and this relaxer was too strong for it, and I used the regular formula...go figure:perplexed

I normally use Bantu regular. My hair get really straight. If you do not want bone straight, try Motions regular.

I use Bantu and it works really well for me and it's not bone-straight and it doesn't burn. My hairdresser applies it and works it through once and washes it out. I guess you could say I actually have a texturizer.

I've tried others Affirm and Elucence and not only was my hair bone-straight but damaged with severe and I mean severe breakage and lifeless. I had another hairdresser use Bantu and they would work it through my hair over and over again and that got my hair bone-straight and it ended up breaking off and lifeless. (He insisted I had coarse hair and I don't)

Bone straight doesn't work on me. My natural hair is fine to medium textured, slightly resistant, and intermittant small s-shapes, spirals and, curls when even texturized turn into frizz. (each strand starts in an s turns into a curl then spirals then starts over with an s or half a curl that flips over and that starts the pattern over and grows in another direction = tangles, tangles, tangles) And I have a three inch square in the middle of the back of my head that is more resistant then the rest of my hair (that's where my stylists starts my relaxer). But my hair seems to do well with this frizz.

I've had several hairstylists tell me I have "weird" hair and when straightened looks like Indian hair.

I find there are so many variables that go into what works and doesn't work on someone's hair.

I hope that helps.

Hey Indigo
I don't want my hair to be bone straight so would you still recommend it?

Well I used "super" so maybe if you used mild it would be gentler (depending on your hair type). If your hair is course and thick, and you use a mild, it may not get bone straight. Also at that time I was leaving my relaxer on for the time recommended, which I don't do now. So if you use a mild, and leave it on for less time it may work well. Are you going for a texturized look or just not bone straight?
