Hey does anyone have a problem with baldspot? I have a baldspot write at the crown of the left side of my head and I dont know what to do, I think my hair is very healthy and my hair grows even thoughout the rest of my head. But that part of my hair will not grow. some people say it's the way that I wrap my hair, or some say just go see a dermatologist for nerve damage, I dont know. CAN SOME "PLLLEEASSSSEEE HELP ME"

This is what has been listed to have helped some people:
Castor Oil
Nioxin Follicle Booster
Profectiv Anti-thinning
Emu Oil (is said to wake up follicles)
And of course, less stressful (on the hair) practices

I personally have a similar problem, but I've had it for years and suspect dead follicles. I might try the 1. emu oil thing for a couple of months, but in the meantime, 2.I'm saving up to go to a dermatologist because others have spoken about specific prescriptions that help with that problem. 3.If neither works or whatever, i will be saving up for that hair transplant surgery (where they take hair from the back of your head to transplant to problem areas)

Good luck!
You might want to try the cheaper ways first...

I also had a bald spot in the same spot. I think mine either came from wrapping or braids, I'm not sure which. Any way, I started using the nioxin follicle booster (LHCF recommendation) and the spot is definitely beginning to fill in. I want to say I have been using it consistently for the past 2 weeks. Give it a try!

I had 2 clean spots once. They were the size of quarters. It was due to alopecia. They grew back in after a couple of months.

I have one clean spot it the back of head. I would be alright with it if the hair in that spot just didn't grow, but there is no hair there to grow. Nothing I have tried to far has worked. I only tried a few things.

ORS Fertilizing Balm
Vit. E
Caster oil

I think these are helpful in thinning areas, but not balding areas......these my need some serious (hard core)treatment. If nothing else works, see a dermatologist.

I know that a lot of you may not want to hear this, but I have a couple of questions for you all.

Do you guys think there is a chance that some of these bald spots maybe caused by your relaxers?
Do any of you think that your alopecia may be triggered or worsened by hair relaxers?

Many sisters relax for years with no problems only to develop bald spots later on.

All though I am anti-relaxer, I am not trying to come down on any of you for relaxing your hair. I used to have bald spots and other scalp problems but they all went away once I stopped relaxing my hair.

I always hear people blame bald spots on too-tight braiding, rough combing, or diet or etc.; but I rarely hear people blame the bald spots on hair relaxers.

I do not know how many of you have relaxed hair?
I am not trying to convert any of you to being natural.

It's just a thought.

AFASHIONSLAVE; WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST COULD BE THE CAUSE FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO HAVE NEVER HAD A RELAXER?

Hon, I'm natural...and my hair hasn't been filling in or anything since I became natural.
A relaxer may have contributed to the problem like 10 years ago, but getting rid of the relaxer has not gotten rid of the problem.
Tight tight -I mean slant your eyes back to your ears tight- ponytails way back then contributed too, I'm sure!

I found a really good link on the internet a while back about hair loss factors. It helped me out a lot when I had bald patches post relaxer. I will try to find it and post the information from the link.

Wanda,

I should have clarified my statement. I didn't mean to respond to you directly. I just replied to the topic to put the information out there. When I had bald spots the relaxer was the main culprit behind me losing my hair. I just wanted to post the info because when I had bald spots no one told me that it could be the chemicals causing them or helping them along.

The link on the internet is under a website called howstuffworks.com. Look on howstuffworks under hair replacement. There are quite a few links on this "howstuffworks" website including a link to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. Maybe this info will give you new ideas on what is causing your bald spots.

Thank you for the info. I made a dermatology appointment and I hope that I don't have to go so far as to have a transplant. I'm hoping that something topical may help.

I had 3 three bald spot and nioxin follicle booster was the
only product that gave me results in about 2 weeks.

AFashionSlave: I know exactly were you're comin' from!!!

Mine was due to sickness which required surgery. But, I have no doubt that the relaxers made it worse. This is part of the reason why I am transitioning.........bald spots are bad, but a bald head is worse. I know women who have no hair line but yet and still, every 4 weeks, they are sitting in the salon paying for someone to burn their follicles off. Why do we do such things?
