OooOooh I hope there are pics in there...

Off with popcorn to read b/c I know you are longwinded! lol *wink*

Thanks for all that you do Littlegoldlamb:yep:

You're a funny one! Yes I want more manageable hair...the natural way. The key word is manageable. I do not want bone straight or permanently straight hair. If I want that, a touch of heat will do. But this isn't a thread pro or con so let me go sit down somewhere! CARRY ON!

~Going over to read your review.

Uhmmm....lemme' say now I've no pics up. :lachen:

Why?

My texture looks the same...just PERFECTED. And my webcam is pitiful but tries its darndest. Anyone want to send a college student a new digi-cam?

Thanks for posting. No pushbacks or arguements here!!!! ( Like you - I hate that!)

Wonderful!

Hey your review of this was great!

My fave line: "Drives me madder than a just-neutered Jack-Russell Terrier on it’s fifth can of Red Bull!!" :lachen:

Ok, I get what you are saying about the pics.

I may try this on the weekend. :yep:

Well, it was five pages in Word. :look:

So...after much trial and error, I wrote a formal review on baking soda as a texturizer.

I included:

What I did wrong
What I did right
Things to NOT get wrong
Things to keep in mind
My usual good humor
An ingedient list with ratios

Hope it Helps.

Also...those with negative views, comments along the lines of:

Anyone-who-uses-yogurt/sour cream/coconut milk/lime/baking soda/etc -justs-"want a relaxer"-deep-down...please save your comments for your blogs. :yep:

I'm here to share knowledge with those who have already shared so, so much with me. If anyone can learn from my mistakes or successes I'm glad to oblige.

Please don't rain on our parade.

I personally don't think putting yogurt or baking soda on your hair to have soft, more managable hair on your head some sign of a deep yearning to leave all things nappy. If this and/or using "juices and berries" to "manage" your texture hints or using anything short of water on one's napps reeks of Lye to you please save it for your blog ring. :yep:

I say this with NO malice.:nono:

I just don't want this to decend into a "Amma' nappy 'nuff fo' ya'?!" debate. :lachen:

Definitely coming back to this when I get back on later or tomorrow. Your so wonderful for always writing about everything for us! :yep:

I'm subscribing, I want to read...hey I am happy to be nappy and don't mind getting a little help with the shrinkage...That doesn't mean I want to be relaxed by any *stretch* of the imagination, pun intended

My hair is texturized the unnatural way, but maybe this'll further whip my coarse curls into submission lol. Thanks for posting!

Question: How long does the effect last?

btw... I have a whole bunch of questions, but I aint starting nothing... cuz it feels like I'll be eaten alive

Your review was very witty and informative. I enjoyed it tremendously. I had a positive experience with it 10 or so days ago, so....

Thanks for all this information! A lot of work went into this. I'm going to try some of your recipes. And look at all the money we can save. I fully agree with you on baking soda. I found out from Motown Girl when I first went natural that its a good clarifier. Now I use it a few days after the henna color settles and deepens.

Sincere questions won't get you roasted. :lachen:I haven't had any "Reversion" so to speak. It's not like your hair can't dry out or get out of whack some other way and may need another treatment and a DC to get it back to "Just Been B.soed status".

Tank you Tank you Tank you. Outstanding instructions based on REAL experience.

Can we peek at your hair?

It's a stress release for me, if any thing. I've yet to dabble in henna. You are a braver woman than I!:lachen:

I am texturized and tried this. I used 1T mixed with conditioner for 3-5 mins on a small portion of hair and my hair got pretty straight. I was a little nervous because I really did not think it would work and was not trying to straighten my curls any further . It lasted for a week or so. I tried the coconut milk and lime and did not have any significant straightening. So how long did this natural texturizer last for you with the 2nd session? How often do you plan to do this? It may help those that texturize stretch a bit longer.

Good questions!

I went ape with it and did it three days in a row after my first snafuu. :lachen::lachen::lachen:

You could do it once a week.

I may do it twice a month or once a week. Depends on what my hair likes.

At a certaint point my hair gets wavy and I'm not big on wavy on this noggin.

This would help with stretching definitly! I hope it does for you.

I didn't have "Reversion" so to speak. Daily wear and tear add to it frizzing again...but a DC or baking soda treatment takes care of it. :yep:

Unbelievable....I never knew why I would always get the 'drippies' everytime I used my BS concoction til I read your review. :wallbash: Now I know:rolleyes:....thanks girl! :hug2:

anyone doing this currently?

I still am/was up until i relaxed almost 2 months ago. I think i do my treatment diff than lil lamb's. I am getting new growth now so i will start the bi weekly treatments back up. Also the thing i will do differant this time is only apply the mixture to my newgrowth like I was doing a touch up. I did the treatments bi weekly for 2 or 3 months I waited a week before relaxing and had no ill effects. Now that i know for sure the treatments are not harmful i will keep doing them.

My mixture is equal parts BS to NTM mask I make it thick.
I also just did a treatment to my DD's hair for the first time. It turned her hair into a the 3's.

I'm doing this right now..right after reading this fab review. I used 1 cup baking soda, and 1 cup of Pantene Deep Conditioning Mask. I'll let you guys know how it worked. I feel a little tingling in my scalp.
