I used L'Oreal's Ineral Hair Fixer over the weekend and had a terrible experience.

It's a leave in that's designed to reconstruct and I bought it because it sounded cool. You take a pill and drop it in a little bottle - it's a neat little process...

BUT IT WAS ALMOST A MAJOR DISASTER.

I lost a handful of hair rollersetting (I never lose that much hair. ever.) and another handful on the combout. By the time my hair was dry (BTW - it was HARD AS A ROCK after sitting under the dryer. And it never dried all the way. Even after 2 HOURS. I'm normally dry in no longer than an hour and a half. And by then it's BONE dry) I was sheddding like a cat in June.

I never lose handfuls of hair (and y'all KNOW what I put my hair through). Never.

I was petrified.

I washed my hair the very next night and kept it in a loose bun all day to make sure I dind't manipulate it. I lost more hair between the initial application and my wash the next day, than I have in the past 3 or 4 months combined.

Maybe it was just my hair. Maybe it was the product. I think the pill you dissolve in the solution they give you is an amino based product that is quite string and is meant for hair that is almost unsalvagely damaged. That is not the state of my hair, so I think I just used a product that was NOT for genral use or maintanance.

But I NEVER want anyone to use this stuff. Please. Ok you can if you want to...

but beware.....

Wow! Sorry to hear that. But thank you for sharing. I'll steer clear of that product. That's one of the reasons I like this board, b/c people share the good product news AND the bad product news.

Sorry for all the typos y'all.

I don't know HOW you people read my posts with all the typos and stuff....

Trying to sneak in posts at work. That's what I get!

something similar happened to me 2 years ago with this stuff. I haven't used it since. Don't worry, I don't think it can reap perm or semi perm havoc on your hair.

Tracy,

So sorry about your bad experience!!

Thanks for the warning though. I hate how sometimes just using the wrong product JUST ONE TIME can wreak havoc on the hair

. I guess sometimes it's best to stick with the tried and true products, huh?

Thanks for looking out. See, this is something I would've tried to just because of the pill and the neat way to do it

Tracy, sorry this happened to you! I hope your hair has recovered. Thanks for the heads up b/c I was eyeing this product.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad time of it, but I'm sure you'll bounce back real soon-BTW good lookin' out.

I'm really surprised at this because I have had no ill eefects from this product in the past. I actually have some now and was thinking of trying it in a couple of weeks to remind myself of how it works. I definitely liked it better than the usual rinse out protein conditioners in the past because my hair seemed to be protein senstive. Protein conditioners would make my ends extremely tangled and hard. Now that I've had a major cut and my hair is relaxed I'm going to be experimenting with all the old products to see if there is a difference.

I know Caress! Memories of your postive review was what prompted me to give it a whirl!

I guess what we always say is true - what works for some...

I think a leave in protein treatment that is this concentrated is just too much for my hair.

My hair usually responds wonderfully to protein.

I've used this as well with no ill-effects.. I don't think that it did anything by way of improvement but it didn't damage it either.

Yeah - I just wanted to provide a warning of the possibility for those whom it might happen to.

Glad it works for you!

YIKES!! DUDE! I just bought that about a week or so ago!!! WHY didn't I read this post???????????

Okay, I was just about to use it on THIS wash, so I will not. Thanks for the warning.

Tara

p.s. I bought it only cuz it looked "neat" too, so I figured "ooh, so much work, it MUST work" lol
