Aw heck....my hair has thinned out.

Everytime I'm going good...something happens. My hair is super thin now. It's healthy (as far as no split ends, it's holding curls, it's bouncy....but thin)

I flat ironed it and thought nothing of it. Two days later, I put it in a ponytail and I BET the diameter of my ponytail is a quarter. It is super thin. My mom thought it was my relaxer. She has allllways told me to wait at least 12 weeks to get a relaxer, but I usually wait 9-10. I might be paying for it now.

I think I'ma leave some braids in for a while to give my hair a goooood stretch from relaxers for 3-4 months. It'll help me retain some length too. In 3-4 months I hope to be BSL. What do yall think?

Here is my most updated progress pic.

Girl that's nothing. It's really not bad. I've seen MUCH worse. See the first picture in my siggy :look: You could cut off an inch and a half and you'll be fine. :yep: Your hair has grown nicely.

Yep, ITA with all the above posters...your hair is fine, and I also think that if you want to braid up to stretch, do it. That will keep you from messing with your hair for most of the summer. Great progress!

Your hair looks really nice to me.....i was thinkin you had bald spots or somethin!!

Maybe your hair is going through the phase where its showing length and then the next phase it might thicken back up....i'm just sayin that because my hair does this. But i stay consistent with my JBCO just applying it twice a week.

HTH:)

is this one of those threads where the OP says "Oh look how bad my hair looks"....knowing that their hair looks ok...and the reason for the post is to get lots of compliments?

just kidding maybe

OP: do you have a before pic?

I was looking for an after too...do you have a before so we can gauge the thickness? It honestly looks just fine to me but we do know subtle changes to our hair more than anyone else.

sorry i dont agree with everyone else. your hair does look thin. not bad like people were probably expecting but i can tell it seems thin. same with my hair in my avatar, people say my hair looks thick in that pic. my hair was a thin mess lol.

does it feel light and airy?
thats how my hair felt from too many relaxers and weekly heat.

I agree with the other ladies- it really doesn't look bad at all. I would trim half and inch and go on with your lan to stretch for 3 or 4 months- you'll make BSL by then. You already have some strands that are touching your bra.

Don't be discouraged. You really don't have a reason to be :)

SK --- Chile, You Trippin':lachen:

I wish you were here. I'm so serious. My hair is not thick at ALL anymore. I think it may be the flat iron :nono:. You know I have a problem every once in a while.

If I am to put my hair in a ponytail, I assure yall that it is like a quarter around. And it's just.... I dunno it reminds me of baby hair now. You know hwo newborns have that hair that is stuck to their heads? And it's really soft and thin? That's exactly what it looks like.

THANK YOU! I know I'm not krazy. Aw heck. That's exactly what I've been doing too. Flat iron once a week. Relaxer every 8-9 weeks *sigh* AND IT JUST GOT CUT IF YALL REMEMBER! Just two months ago I got 2 inches cut off.

Good gawd girl!!! Thats what ya do to bacon and eggs!!! Yeah....i'm putting you on punishment:spank: ....no more heat for you during that whole time you stretch...maybe just once....but thats it!!

And lots of deep conditioning...idk if u use castor oil on ur scalp...but that usually helps.

:yep:when i found out about CHI and FHI flat irons i used one once a week and thats when my hair got that light airy feeling. like baby hair just like you described. and i was deep conditioning and using JOICO protein every week and 2 heat protectants everytime and my hair still thinned out.
its all in the feel of the hair, its hard to tell from pics.

Hmmm Castor Oil? Lemme go look that up

Oh wow!!! Your hair has grown so well!!! I am so proud of your hair progress !
Now if you had a pic to compare what you are calling "thinner" I wouldn't have to give you this :spank: .....if you just relaxed, wait until your next wash day to check . I wouldn't trim the tail unless you wear your hair straight most of time; Otherwise, hth and keep on doing a great job retaining, lil sis.

It doesn't look bad. Make changes to your regimen and see what improves your thickness.............. keep notes.

I would reduce direct heat first.

Okay on to SC. You have nothing to worry about. Your hair simply has lead hairs that grow into a healthy "V" shape. Just be patient and your sides and front hair will catch up.

Make sure to retain your length and you'll be fine hun. Dont worry so much. Just love those babies on your head gurl and they will show you how much they appreciate it:yep:.
