Re: Aveda\'s Brilliant Line

It is a very basic shampoo. I used it as a clarifying shampoo to get rid of it.

Re: Aveda\'s Brilliant Line

My step sister uses this line and she says it works well with her hair. She even uses their conditioner as a deep conditioner. Her hair is not as thick as mine, so i can't go that route, if the conditioner doesn't say "deep conditioner" on the label or "put on a plastic cap and leave on hair 10 or 20 or 30 minutes", i know its not going to work on my hair. But she has been using both shampoo and conditioner since november, and in november her hair below shoulders but way above bra strap, now she is bra strap.

Re: Aveda\'s Brilliant Line

The shampoo was very drying. It is like a clarifier that does too much. I guess that is because the first ingrediant is Ammonium Laurel Sulfate. Not sure, but my experience wasn't good. The conditioner was okay, but for the price I wouldn't buy again.

Hi, All!

I find all the comments re: Aveda Brilliant fascinating. I have used the entire line for several years, and have reaped very good results with it. My hair is fine, but there's a lot of it (lol)! So, I don't know. I like it.

<font color="brown">I enjoy using the Brilliant line and have never experienced any dryness with it. My hair is medium textured 4a, with some fine areas in the front and my hair is always full and moisturized after using the shampoo and conditoner. In addition to the extracts, the conditoner contains Aloe, Glycerin, Jojoba Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Babassu Oil, and Shea Butter Extract. The Shampoo is a basic shampoo that cleanses well without dryness. Overall, this line leaves my hair well conditioned with great shine.

I also use the Damage Control spray leave-in and Universal Stlying Creme when I do roller sets.

Re: Aveda\'s Brilliant Line

Used to use a few products from the Brilliants line but I always stopped b/c they seemed to be drying to my hair. I'd always spend the money on it and couldn't wait to finish it to go back to my Pantene. I did like the anti-humectant pomade when I relaxed. I used that consistently. I also used the hair shine that was in a bottle...can't remember the name. I did not like the shampoos and conditioners though.

DITTO! I first used the shampoo a few months back when started joining hair boards to take better care of my hair. I didn't know the woes of ALS or SLS! My hair did not benefit from the shampoo or conditioner and I was mad at myself for paying so much (thank God I only got small bottles!) The humectant pomade is okay but when I finish this jar I can't say I'll run out to buy some more...

Re: Aveda\'s Brilliant Line

AngieK,

I read in your post re: Aveda Brilliant line, which I use, that you use the Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling Creme when you do roller sets. Hmmm...As a re-confirmed roller setter (lol), I used to use the Universal Styling Creme for blow drying. How do you use it when roller setting? That is to say, do you use it instead of a setting lotion, or in addition to a setting lotion?

**I ask because I have been wondering just exactly how to use the Universal Styling Creme since I have put blow-drying on the back burner (no pun intended - hee hee!).

Re: Aveda\'s Brilliant Line

<font color="brown">Northernbelle,

When I do rollersets, this is what I do:

After towel blotting my hair, I use the Damage Control spray and a little Elixir. Then I comb it out and add a little of my homemade oil moiturizer (just a little because the Universal Styling Cream can be heavy). I then apply the Universal Styling Cream last, and proceed to set the hair on rollers. Once dry, I remove the rollers and wrap it and go under the dryer for another 15 minutes.

I use this combo when doing a rollerset/doobie and my hair comes out really nice and shiny (and swingy).
