I used the shampoo and treatment today. (both sample sizes) I was pleasantly surprised by the velvety feeling of the shampoo in my hand and on my hair as well. When I rinsed it, my hair was left much softer than with Aveda Sap Moss.

I used the treatment which had great spreadability. I liked the consistency of the product also. I left it in about 3 minutes. For some reason, I was under the impression that it was not an oh so great detangler, but it was.

My hair is about 75% dry now and it feels soft, yet substantial if that makes sense. It feels good. I am tempted to go out and get the full sized products right now. It would be wiser of me to wait until pay day though. ;)

I have a teeny bit of the shampoo left, so I'll have a chance to use that along with the conditioner, which I do have the full size of, in about a week.

Sometimes, a product gets hyped up so much and when you finally jump on the wagon, it doesn't live up to the hype, but this one did. I know I'm only judging from the first use, but we'll see how it goes over time. I will say that I'm not "hype" about the $$$ that the product costs, but Allandra taught me that no amount is too much for your hair. Of course, I'd have to make DR an every once in a while treatment rather than weekly. ;)

I've been waitin' on u. Do you like the poo better than DE?

Can you please post the ingredients to the shampoo?

TIA

I'm sorry. The sample I was given at the Aveda store was made for me on the spot. The rep took a small plastic bottle and filled it from the liter bottle of product. Thus my product has no ingredients.

Im glad you liked it. Just washed my hair earlier w/ the whole line today and rollerset w/ the smoothing fluid and brillant damage control spray for heat protection. This line has helped me tremendously w/ stretching...

You know what? Possibly. I'll have to try it a few more times to make a final decision. I still say nothing's better before a protein treatment than DE. The DR definitely works well with the DR system though. I bet I would not get the same results if I used DE shampoo with DR treatment or conditioner.

Girl, why are you messing with the small size shampoo and treatment? I say go for the gusto. If it comes in a liter size, I have it. :look: You know how I roll.

Now, you know I'm a teacher--we have to do it small sometimes. :look:

The first time I used DR conditioner, I didn't get a sample of the DR poo. I used Keracare poo with the DR con and it was horrible. When I decided to give Aveda another shot, I purchased the system and it's all LOVE.

Yay for you! :)
Is it detangeling? I have soft hair/tangle issues.

How does the treatment compare with the regular conditioner?

Yay another convert!

Here is the description for the smoothing fluid

  • Smooths, and conditions
  • Dries with a soft touchable finish
  • Adds weightless, free-flowing movement, body and natural shine
  • For all hair types
Believe me it does everything it says it will. I had a hard time finding a product that wouldnt leave my hair crunchy when I would rollerwrap. Not this stuff. My hair feels like butter:lol:

i know right??:lick: :yep:

well, i just finished using the DR for myself and i must say it is very good! but of course, its aveda! i immediately noticed a difference in the conditioner compared to the brilliant. my curls were separated...alot! they hung longer and appeared straighter, not as defined as when i use the brilliant conditioner. that doesnt really matter but i'm just noting the difference. detangling was a breeze!!! i hardly spent as much time combing under the shower head as i usually do. the comb, for the most part, glided right thru! wow!!!:woot:. gotta love it for that!!!
a definite:thumbsup:  up!!
i still cant wait to try the smooth infusions though:look:

I'm going to ask this question again. Being a 4B plus having hair that can be a little mushy, I deal with tangles big time. How is the Damage Remedy line in terms of detangling? I know some products may be great but their area of expertise isn't tangles whereas some products are da' bomb at detangling. I'm praying that DR falls in to the latter catagory.

I have used this twice already and all I can say is I am in love. Absolute love. I am 7 weeks post and I shampooed with the Damage Remedy shampoo and then mixed the conditioners the first time and my hair was so moisturized and strong.

The next time I washed I used the shampoo and just the intensive conditioner, even better results. This stuff is about to make me abandon all others. It's that good. After I used the intensive on my hair I was able to just comb right through.

This set and Giovanni Direct leave-in, is a winning combination for my hair. :)

When I first started using DR I didn't really pay attention to how it did with detangling, but when I got to the 6th month being post relaxer, I can say without a doubt that it REALLY, REALLY HELPS. It provides great slip. So the Aveda DR condish along with my Denman brush make detangling a breeze. :) :)

In case others want to know - the Smooth Infusion, which I started using when I was about 7 months post, works even better. Even the young lady that rollersets my hair noticed a difference:)
