use both... anti humectant is what I use when my hair is straight. It's more liek a grease and is trying to "block out" moisture and preventing your hair from frizzing... humectant is what I use on my natural styles when I'm trying to draw in moisture and achieve and maintain curls, coils and waves... both are excellent when used for their purpose

Bajan,

I must have been reading your mind because I was just about to post the same question.

Cocoa,

Love the press n curl :) . Is the anti humectant something that you have to use everyday? I have tried things to keep my press from reverting in the summer but I always seem to get the curly/bushy roots no matter what I try. The only way I can wear my hair out in the summer is spiraled otherwise I look a mess when I get to my destination, I normally use a curl wax when I spiral my hair so I guess it has some type of anti humectant in it, never checked.

I used to use the humectant before I re-discovered Elasta QP Mango Butter. It's very good. I didn't care for the anti-humectant at all.

The anti-humectant is mainly castor oil. I use it to seal moisture in my hair and leave outside moisture out in humid conditions. From what I've learned from the ladies here, it seems to work best on relaxed hair. I tried the Aveda Humectant but it made my hair revert - it may work best on natural hair.

@ Isis my anti-humectants base is coconut oil not castor...hmm seems as though they've changed the ingrediants since the last time I've purchased

but to answer cincy I'm not one to put anything on my hair everyday so I use it occasionally I've had the same jar since like 2001... honestly I rarely wear straight hair in the summer time so I can't really gurantee that it would work with preventing frizzies and puffiness... the humectant is basically aloe, Kelp, flax seed and some other things it holds my natural curls and twists outs for a few days

Aura's line is a good cheap alternative

Aveda Anti Humectant Pomade is really great!! I was introduced to it about 2 years ago and have been using it ever since. It is the one hair care product that I always keep in stock. I am never without a jar of it---ever!!!

I'm currently using the anti-humectant pomade on my natural hair and it does wonders. (It's a plus in my book). :)

CocoaButterflyy, maybe the ingredients did change. I'm looking at the label now. It has castor oil and something from coconuts, could be coconut oil (hmm... didn't notice this before). I have an old colbalt blue jar also that I don't use, from 2002. It has a strong perfumey smell so I didn't use that one much. I can't read that label anymore. They changed the whole packaging since then.
