Laela

Sidestepping the "lynch mob"
Anyone here thinking of, or already doing, braids as a source of p/t income? I'm considering that...

Laela I don't have the patience or strength for that. I braided my sister's hair for her trip to Jamaica the other day and it took all my energy. I like to braid my own hair as a hobby but I'm very selective when I braid for other people. I usually do it for friends and relatives but it's ocassional if not rare.

laela, in my opinion ,you should do it only if you enjoy it, not only for the money. Im just sharing on my experience with the women who braid my hair. They really enjoy braiding and make me feel comfortable, so much so that i dont really feel the pain of sitting down for 6-8 hours!!

That's true.. but I think the money is a good motivator!

it's a lucrative biz; I could make $1K a week. I do enjoy braiding, esp. when I do my nieces' hair. But the longest I've braided was about 3 hours. I may not be sure about braiding strangers' hair or for braiding 10-20 hours; so I'm looking for feedback/tips from braiders on how they got started and what they went through to get to where they are now.
