2007 marks the beginning of my third year on LHCF. I was already doing my hair before i found this site. Now after almost three years, I feel totally in control of how I want my hair to look and feel.
I can blow dry and wrap my own hair
I can perm my own hair
I can flat iron my own hair
I can cornrow my own hair
I can do flat twists on my own hair
I can braid extensions into my own hair
I can do just about any style on my own hair. And if I don't know it, I can learn it.
My hair has grown consistently since I started LHCF
I have reached every goal so far.
My hair always looks healthy and shiny, just the way I want it to look.
I don't go to a stylist, therefore I don't have to pay a stylist.

So now that I don't really need a stylist, who would I go to?
If I went to a stylist now, it would be purely out of indulgence. I'd have to see their work and it would have to look 100% better than what I could do myself for free.

At this point, the only person I'd let work in my hair would be celebrity stylists
(think Neeko or Andre) and one stylist that began in my home town of Chi Town:
Honey Child.

Besides that, no one, I mean no one, is messin with my strands.
What about y'all?

I guess I'm in the same boat as you because I won't let anyone touch my hair :nono:! I do my own styling, trims, braids, etc. I've even went as far as putting off cornrows until I can do them properly on my own head.

No one knows my hair better than me, and certainly no one knows how to properly handle it like I do.

On the off chance that I decided I wanted a professional cut I'd go back to the stylist who colored my hair @ Aveda a few months back. She wasn't black but she handled my hair with such care --- better than anyone else has and I saw her work on the salon managers hair who was also a nappy so I know she'd probably be the only person I'd allow to touch my hair.

I don't like being dependent on anyone and that's one of the things I let go of when I went natural.

No one!

No one is allowed to touch my hair. If you want to admire or poke fun at it do it from a distance. I just can't have anyone that close to me touch it. Not even my mother.

My mother is the only person who I allow to touch my hair (cos she relaxes it for me and cuts it & a few other bits & bobs).

Nobody touches my hair except me. I have learned how to do all the things necessary to take care of it. I just feel that nobody's going to love my hair and be as gentle with it as I would, so I gladly do it all.

No one! Not that my hair is all that. I have a LONG way to go but I just don't like anyone touching it and playing it. I get scared that hairs will snap or tangle or something like that. My Dad tried to play in it the other day and I almost swung:lol: j/k

But in all seriousness, I have learned (from the wonderful ladies here) and other forums how to take care of my hair and style it

Nobody. I do everything myself except trim (mom does that) but i'm getting ready to take that over too.

Same here. Although, one day I will have to relax my own hair, but I think I can handle it.

I have two stylists that can touch my hair -- one that can blow it out straight, the other that can blow it out and trim too. I am so glad I found them. I'd also let my mom and my sisters in law do my hair. They've done a good job keeping their hair and my nieces' hair long and healthy, so I trust them.

My mom(Trims & relaxers) and my husband(scalp rubs, and hair washings) are the only ones that can touch my hair.

I can blow dry and wrap my own hair
I can perm my own hair
I can flat iron my own hair
I can't cornrow my own hair-working on that
I can't do flat twists on my own hair-working on that
I can't braid extensions into my own hair-working on that

I am the ONLY one, as of Sept 06, who will be touching my hair. After going to a LHCF recommended stylist for a hair coloring who totally gave me a bad dye job, I have given up on them completely. Coloring was the only thing I don't know how to do myself, so it makes sense to go to a pro. But this woman put the dye all over my hair at once so the hair near the roots were very light and my hair got darker as you go down the hair to the ends to the point of being practically black (which is my natural color). Now, I am determined to learn how to color and find out how to get my hands on some Aveda.

Marie, because I don't trust myself enough yet to do my own kinky twist and microbraids. All the washing, coloring, and trimming is down by me.

In 2007, JUST ME!!! Too many bad experiences with stylists. My husband has been helping out with the scalp massages.

My stylist in Far Rockaway, NY. She can do what she wants with it. I will sllep in her chair and know that she will not do something evil to my hair. 100% trust.

I trim, color, relax, style my own hair, and just recently put in my first sew-in . THe only time I let someone else do it is if I want braids, then I let the Africans do it. But last time I got braids, they blowdried my already dry hair, and burned the ends (burning my real hair at the same time). So IF I go again, I will make sure they dont do that.

I recently thought about going to a salon just for the pampering, but then I came to my senses that no-one will treat my hair as good as I do. I know that as soon as someone combs through a tangle and doesn't take their time or combs my hair in it's dry state, or wrings all the water out of my hair before a rollerset and sops a bunch of mousse on it...I will be upset:eek:  So my answer is nobody:)

I can think of 3: my mommy, my husband and Jan, my old stylist. Jan is the only one I trust to give me a good cut w/o blowing it out.

My mom, my husband and my former stylist, Jan. I haven't been to Jan in a while because she has a hard time styling natural hair. However, I would go to her for a trim, because she would cut my hair w/o blow drying it.

My mama...and that's only because she used to be a beautician and did my hair for years. I wish I had kept my own hands (and others) out of my hair because now I'm starting from scratch.

My stylist and I are the only ones because i damn sure can't pull of a dominican blowout lol. And everytime I have let someone else touch my hair, other than my stylist, i get thrown off track or I get massive breakage.

I can perm my own hair
I can wash my own hair
I can Flat Iron it- When I decide to rarely do so
I can dust my hair- I dont trust my trimming skills yet.

I just keep my styles simple. Im good at simple styles lol

wow...

Oh and just so y'all don't think I was tryin to toot my own horn (and
for all the newbies and lurkers)

all of this

I can blow dry and wrap my own hair
I can perm my own hair
I can flat iron my own hair
I can cornrow my own hair
I can do flat twists on my own hair
I can braid extensions into my own hair
I can do just about any style on my own hair. And if I don't know it, I can learn it.

has happened over a period of 10 years. 10 years of trial and error, burns
and hand cramps:eek:

but it was all worth it....:D
