Going to a formal event tonight
I have twists in my hair right now
What styles can I do???????????
I completely forgot about my hair!!!
I dont love twists out... I feel my head looks funny.. and i feel my hair looks thin lke i only have on layer of twists coils... not a big poof.. understand?
But give me ideas... pics would help!
(Keeping in mind my hair is currently twisted, so answers have to work with either twists/twistout)

Your hair feels thin? I would love that thinness. Your hair looks beautiful in your sig.

Sorry, can't help you with your question :P

if your twists are long enough, you could pull them back into a bun or make a french twist updo.

i know you say you don't like twist-outs, but that could work if you pull it off right. i did a cute style by accident once - my hair doesn't hold twists well, so when i rinsed them in the shower they all came loose. shrinkage set in and i ended up with this:

you could try that, and if you don't like it you could always make a puff out of it that will have nice coil definition, and add some cute accessories.

i'm not a style guru, but i thought i'd throw that in there... :D

*edited cuz i'm not smart enough to add a pic the 1st time around...

forgot to mention my hair is full of gel and that i had a bunch of little mini-twists in my hair... whereas you said you only have 6 big ones. hmmm... yes i did kinda forget it's cold and you don't want frozen hair.

but yes, the french twist updo is just twist up and pin. really easy. then just tuck the ends inside when the twist is as high as you want it and pin some more. you may or may not have to recruit someone to help as i see your hair is pretty long...

Here's a few photos of an updo I did last weekend:

It's a little messy/frizzy. But it was just something I came up with at the last minute. I started with putting the front section up of my hair with a clip, and then I just put some two-strand twists along my left ear and my nape area:

After twisting I pulled up the back section of my hair up with another clip:

That's cool! ;)

How do you do your twist-outs? I used to have a problem with my twist-outs not being poofy enough when I did them on wet hair. Instead I usually let my hair air dry and I just dab a little water on each section that I'm about to twist by just stickin my fingers in a cup of water and wetting my hair with them. Also, have you tried maybe doing a braid-out? You might get more volume.

i've tried EVERYTHING in regards to twists - wet hair, dry hair, moist hair... doesn't matter. my twists always suck. i know it's not my technique because i twist other girls' hair and it comes out great. my hair just won't hold them. :perplexed i used a ton of gel on those twists, they were all stiff and hard so i figured maybe rinsing would get rid of a little gel but leave enough to keep the twists together. WRONG! :lachen: but it still made for a cute look.

usually, i can only wear twists for a day and then the resulting twist-out is just big poofy hair. braid-outs work much better for me - they make my hair look more 4b-ish, and i can show my length off better. (my hair hates twists but loves braids... go figure... :ohwell: )

sorry to high-jack the thread...

For my wedding I wore 2 strand twists that were rollerset. I have also put my hair in a french twist with some loose twist curled at the top for a formal.

Would you like to put in in a twistouty puff? Just spritz a little water on it, shake your head and put a band or scarf around your head.

This wasn't for any formal occasion so it wasn't as nice as it could have been if I spent time on it but a french twist with a nice clip or any other type of nice adornment should be nice. . Also, the brown pieces aren't my scalp..its the makeup that I accidently got onto my hair from my hand.

Another option is setting the twists on flexi rods and then taking them down. This is the end result.
