I briefly read something in Essence( I think it is the latest....it has a man on the cover and title something to the effect of why black men love us). Because I was in my dr.'s office and she called me in before I could finish, there is a section on the 3 types of black hair , namely wavely, curly, and kinky, and suggested care for each.

For kinky, the author says basically it is impossible to overmoisturize because it is so dry.

It also suggests that it be conditioner washed twice a day. Was wondering if anyone here every co-washed 2x a day and what were your results?

Wow I've never tried co-washing that frequently, but daaamn where does this lady suggest we find the time to be washing twice a day? Lol

Essence needs to hire better writers when it comes to their natural hair articles. :look:

I can't imagine cowashing my hair 2x a day. When I did it daily, that was pushing it.

You can moisturize your hair twice a day without washing it. I do it with water, liquid and cream leave-ins and cowash or shampoo every 3-5 days (depending on timing).

I've done it before but not on the regular. I cowash in the mornings after I work out. I may cowash in the evening if I'm tired and have a headache after work. Massaging my scalp in a warm shower soothes my headaches so why not add conditioner. I wig it during the week so cowashing is not a problem. I haven't had any bad results from it and I have great retention.

That's a great disservice to black women.

It's like saying eating three apples a day will really prevent getting sick and you can never get have too many daily apples.

It sucks the information available for black women is so...illogical.

yup, i second Embrya sounds like dickey, i think i even heard him say on a radio show that it would be fine to rinse and condition up 6 times a day lol

...and I can see women reading this and assuming they can't go natural because if they don't cowash their hair 2x a day, they'll go bald. Thankfully, there's much better information online.

kinky hair anint that dang dry. not dry enough to co wash twice a day. i mean ive done it before but it was after i spent all day out in the sun and HAD to co wash again.

anyway there is a such thing as over conditioning. my hair is 3c 4a but aint nothing silky about my hair outside of the bang area lmao. my hair is kinky and if i co wash daily, 2 of those days better be with protein or my hair will be a mushy soggy over moisturized mess.
my hair holds on the moisture and co washing 2x a day everyday aint gonna happen for me.

Some people do have hair that is just naturally very dry and they probably can't over moisturize. Washing hair twice a day is overkill - I don't think anyone has time for that except maybe professional swimmers, etc.

@dyh080 - How dare you call my future husband "some man"! :lachen: That's Idris Elba.

I'm putting him on my vision board tonight

When I saw him on the cover, my heart skipped a beat. I told my hubby I was putting the cover on the wall. That is a fineeeeeeeeee looking chocolate man :yep:.
