I noticed this oil is really gaining popularity. It's in conditioners, shampoos, and it's sold alone. What makes it stand out, and how does it compare to other popular oils?

For me, I use it on my acne prone, extremely oily skin (I also use it on my scalp). It doesn't do much for my hair, but it's a miracle worker when it comes to my skin and scalp. Most facial moisturizers on the market either break me out or causes dryness (which leads my skin to oil overproduction and MAJOR greasy face). Argan oil doesn't clog my pores and (to my surprise), it controls my oil/shine. It doesn't feel greasy at all and leaves my skin looking dewy. I use 100% argan oil, none of that Moroccan oil stuff that's mixed with silicones and other junk, just pure argan oil.

I need to try using argan oil on my face. I bought 100% argan oil from FNWL and I haven't used it yet because it's so expensive. It cost me $32 for 4oz of oil and I would only get 4 uses out of it on my hair :lachen:

I've really liked coconut oil for the strength it gives, jojoba for the overall balance and smoothness, and this argan oil seems really great for making my hair soft and full. It's very nourishing IMO
In my case, though, I've only used the Organix line that includes Argan oil in the ingredients--I haven't used the oil straight before.

I love the lightness of argan oil. I haven't taken the plunge yet and purchased the pure stuff but as soon as I get some money that is the first thing on my list.

I love the 100% argan oil for my skin as well. Just a couple drops are more than enough as a light moisturizer. A little goes a long way.

For my hair, I can't say that I have seen a drastic difference any way on my hair.

As for marketing, many "exotic" oils are being used and touted as the next best thing for hair and skin. I think argan is the "it" product oil for now.

Haven't tried argan oil, but willing to. I'm going to see how castor oil works for my hair first. EVOO though will always be my first love <3

I use it in a mix and my skin and ends feel awesome without being greasy. I normally use about 3-4 drops for my face and 5-6 drops per section (about 6 sections) before sealing with something heavier(Unpetroleum jelly).

The mix is (Argan/Rice Bran/Castor Oil)

Sold by weight. This is pure, unadulterated Argan oil, a clear yellow liquid, which is rich in vit. E, antioxidants and carotenes, bottled in a plastic bottle or jug depending on the size ordered. This oil is used in making soaps, lotions and other body and hair products, as well as for massage and skin care. Some major manufacturers use Argan oil for their anti-aging products because it is rich in skin-replenishing components, including flavanoids, oleic acid, linoleic acid and fatty acids. This is not a "new" oil, it's been available for a very long time but it's only now making its way to our part of the world.

The Argan tree grows solely in the southwestern part of Morocco. The oil is obtained from the nut which looks like a cross between a walnut and an almond. Its a labor-intensive process performed only by native women.

Apply directly to skin after bathing while skin is still moist, this is a wonderful and simple dry or mature skin treatment. Apply as a hair or scalp treatment. Soak nails in this oil to prevent nail or cuticle dryness. Argan oil is recommended for oily skin, eczema and psoriasis; however, use with care if you're prone to large pores or acne as these may be exacerbated. Because it's so high in vit. E and phytosterols, this oil is also recommended for scars. Argan oil is commonly called "liquid gold" in Europe. Our Argan oil is refined to remove impurities and odors.
Country of origin: Morocco. Method of Extraction: Cold pressed (deodorized). Plant part: Nut. Botanical name: Argania spinosa. SAP value: 195.2. Store in a cool place away from light. INCI: Argania spinosa (Argan) oil.

FINALLY!! i found a reason to use up my oil. i got some pure stuff to add to my shampoo mix and realized that if i were to use it as liberally the way i normally do w/ other oils/butters i would put myself in the poor house.

so the face hunh? hmmmm... new facial moisterizer it is then!

^^werd!

Argan oil is very economical a few drops is enough any more and your hair feels greasy. It leaves my hair silky and conditioned. I usually add between 10 -20 drops in my DC sometimes with other oils.

I'll use up all of my other oils, then I'll think about using Argan oil. The sluggish economy is making me think twice about buying new products.

Thanks ladies!

argan oil is a great light oil. You don't need a palm full for your head. Many sellers will put a drop stopper like on essential oil bottles to keep you from wasting it. If you don't have that, purchase a dropper top to replace your regular top.

I use it alone or sometimes mixed in my butters or oil mixtures. I do like other 'exotic' oils better.

I use the pure Argan oil which i got whilst i was in Marrakech Morrocco. It has really helped with the moisture retention in my hair. I either add it to my conditioners, or apply two drops to my hand rub together until its warm apply on damp hair, wrap my hair in a warm towel for 15 mins then style. Amazing results! soft, silky, shiny hair that feels moisturised from within. Its my holy grail product. No other oil makes my hair feel as moisturised, and i've tried many!

I see the one from camdengrey is so much cheaper then fnwl, lotion crafters etc..is it because it is refined, bleached and deodorized? Does it work just as well -for those that have used it and more $$ brands?

Its the only oil I use. Ive purchased from FNWL and that **** was expensive but worth every dam dime. It took some time for me to get the right amount, but once I did my 4 oz lasted a very long time.

I put 8 oz of distilled water in a spray bottle and then a capful of argan oil. I use it every other day on my hair. No conditioner is needed after my wash day.

that oil is the GOAT!!!!

I've tried different oils and argan is the best for soft, moisturized hair. I use the pure kind from the Emla and Sana brand. To me it is far better than coconut (which solidifies on my hair and makes it feel crunchy), olive (which is nice, but builds up too fast causing stiffness), and jojoba (does nothing for my hair).
