If so, I think I mixed up the one into my conditioner that is meant for cooking only. I noticed the little specks of black in the powder, but I assumed it was how Shikakai powder is supposed to look.

I dont think its 2 different TYPES... but there are many BRANDS....

and the specks you speek of are one of my complaints with Ayurveda...

not so much that they are there but WTF are they... if the specks are same color as your products, ya can guess its just not been sifted well..

When its a different color, my mind gets to worrying about where its made at, what health precautions are required & what regulations are followed...

There is a reason this stuff is NOT made in USA and its hard to come by... the FDA doesnt have the same standards or lack thereof as many other countries...

you have no idea what this stuff has been exposed to in the manufacturing or shipping processes

I've been wondering too. But since the package was emphasizing on using it as a cooking spice, I assume that it was specks of pepper. I don't want to throw away a huge bottle of my mix, but I may have to if I'm unable to blend it into a smooth consistency. I think from now on, I will just purchase Hesh products instead.
