heat on a regular ?

For the last two weeks i wash my hair once let it hair dry and hit it with the maxiglide with h/p and touch it up a few times during the week because i like how it looks straight but i don't want a perm but i am afraid this routine might delete my progress i have mad because my hair is now touching my shoulders

TIA

natural or not, try to stay away from using too much heat it will eventually delete your progress. If you heat style then make sure you use a protective barrier like heat protection spray etc and you may have to do the straight hair styling maybe once or twice a month. Maybe you can try a weave, you would have the straight style option without all the stress and damage.

The less heat the better... :yep:

I used to flatiron every week too. But IMO--the more often you flatiron the more consistent you'll need to be with trims. Otherwise your ends start to split and travel up the shaft. This I know this from experience...

After a summer of just wash n' go ponytails I currently flatiron every other week. I don't do touch ups during the week though. I put my hair into high pony and roll it with a Hype hair satin roller. To keep my hair looking it's best while straight I don't put any product in it. No moisturizers, sprays or oils. If I do put something in my hair--it usually a day or two before I plan to shampoo.

Hope this helps a bit... :)

I'm going natural-- and I initially thought I'd like to transition by flat-ironing every 2 weeks or so. This was a bad idea, especially since I started in the late spring/summer which = REVERSION!

So over the summer I did protective styling- ponies, wash and gos.. and I haven't used heat in 3 months. But if you use it once a month or so, it shouldn't be too damaging, especially if you only flat-iron once.

Thanks ladies my cousin who has not had a perm in five years and gets hers pressed every two weeks at the shop they use
Lustersilk's "straight effects" has anyone tried this?

also i was wondering if the maxiglide is less heat that pressing

also i forgot to mention i don't want to wear anthor braid or sew in in my life

I flat iron my hair every 2 weeks with no problems. I blowdry it and them press it with the Maxiglide, using the ION heat protectant.

I cant let my hair airdry because it would wave/curl which results in me having to go over each piece 3 and 4 times.

So far so good :)

I flatiron, w/the maxigle, my clients natural blowdried hair w/the maxiglide using the steam after applying a little fantascia IC or Biosilk, and the flow and body is the BOMB! i also have them oil there hair w/a light oil to keep it moisturized every other day and it last them for 2-3 wks. they either pin curl, bantu knotts or put it in a bun at knight so the next day it still has curl w/o having to use heat :)

Hey guys,

I press my natural 4a/b hair about once a week, but I use a mild deep conditioner about once every two weeks to prevent any damage. And because I press quite often, I also stay up 2 date on my trims. In terms of destroying any progress you've made, just make sure you pay attention to your hair- any split ends? dry? not as much body? That'll help you decide whether you're over doing it.

Summa Bliss

thank ladies i think this week i will sit under the dryer for 20 with the silk effects and then maxiglide and put a little oil on the ends every other day

the maxiglide is a ceramic flat iron that comes with two plates one with teeth like a comb and one flat i have only had mine a couple of weeks and still trying to find the best routine it comes with a temp dial find a setting that you are comfortable with your hair must be completly dry and use a heat protector don't press it close all the way and slide it through and it takes my 4 ab and looks like i have a perm hth
