I am considereing getting medium-big (box) braids to help me ease me into the transition process. I am planning on using "human-looking" synthetic hair for the extensions. Are braids considered a protective style? My guess would be yes, as long as you kept then always moisturized. Is my guess correct?

Are there any other things that I should do specially to protect the hair that I have? I already know about the "not braiding too tightly around the hairline..." tip. Any others? Thanks.

As long as your hair is healthy underneath, I would think so.

Thanks Karonica. I had doubts because the hair is always "left out" all of the time...

It is not really left out because the added hair is around it.

I would consider them a protective style. Just keep them moisturized.
