Are all Phonytails created =

I purchased my 1st phonytail this week and I like it a lot. I'm planning to buy another since my husband thought it's my real hair when I wore it. With winter on the way I was thinking about using the baggie method to help protect my ends.

My question, are all phony tails created equal? The one I purchased has a comb at the top, a comb at the bottom and an elastic pull string. When I pulled the string to tighten it I heard a ripping sound. So I criss crossed the elastic (as if to tie a shoe) and then pulled the strings. That helped but I was thinking this might be a cheap design in that I paid $10.00 for it. Are all phony's made this way or do some have something more to keep them from tearing so easily?

Also, is it better to buy the real vs the synthetic hair? Can these things cause any damage to your own hair? TIA!

Not an expert with phonyponies, but as far as the hairtype, it depends on whether you're buying straight or curly hair. Synthetic curly hair can frizz like I don't know what after a period of time, so I wouldn't advise you to. Plus with human hair, you can create your own type of curls, etc., so I'd invest in a human hair one altogether.

I'm wearing a synthetic weave now, and it's frizzing (although it doesn't look bad because of the type of curl I have, but it's still annoying). I'm afraid to wash it for fear of it exploding into a fro.

Well i have heard that ripping sound many of times when i wore my phoneytail... and not only that it began to tear and eventually my elastic broke when i pulled too tight. They might all be like that though. Thats great you like the ponytail! you should take pics

If you ever get tired of the phonypony, just invest in a pack of wefted hair and wrap it around your natural ponytail (plaited, and tucked away of course) and pin it down.

I use the drawstring ones and I don't hear a ripping sound. They do have two combs. I buy the synthetic ones because I wear them on a regular basis and I like to switch up. So I do what my pocket can afford.

You shouldn't have any problems with it damaging your real hair. Just don't pull the string too tight. Also you don't need to use both combs. They can become quite uncomfortable.

Ditto.

Adrienne advised me to cut out one of the combs. Works like a charm - no more tender scalp or headaches!

I used to do this too. Not to make a ponytail but to make my buns look bigger.
