Anyone with short layers or bangs bunning?

Because I've been bunning consistently for some time now .. and I'm noticing my shortest layers and bangs have stopped short at the ponytail holder, and obviously it's growing, I just can't make them reach.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do about this?

I don't have a solution but a confession.....I'm keeping my bangs. When I relax this week I'm going to snip my little fringe right back into place. The rest of my hair can grow how it may but the fringe stays. I just think it adds interest to my big head.

I like my bangs too .. but they're like mouth length ..

But it's sooo annoying! I cannot keep a neat bun with this!

I have layers too and I do not know what to do about the top layers. It sucks because it seems like they aren't growing!

How about clipping the hair down? My layers are a little longer now, but before, I just used clips to keep the hair down. RosesBlack asked a similar question in her thread. She got some good responses, too: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=246999

I had the same problem when I first went natural, because my hair was cut in layers. I am just now able to bun all my hair without any clips.

I have no idea what the clips are called, but I got them from Walgreens. Bobby pins catch in my hair, so I don't use them. These "snap" on and off; all you have to do is slide it on, and snap it shut.

I have the same problem. I swear my hair grows naturally in layers.

When i wear my hair up i style the front in a kind of quiff or randonly pin up that area so the hair isn't flat on my head (which isn't a good look if you have a big head!) The rest of the hair can be swept in a pony or butterfly clip.

I use the same clips as Minny at the sides of my head - i do find they loose there tightness after a while so i don't buy the cheap ones from the BSS.

i dont think you should ever try and force shorter layers into a ponytail....it's just not going to grow .. its going to be rubbing against the ponytail holder and just getting abused. Try clipping it down or something , or just leaving them down, when I had bangs i kept that area out of my ponytail when doing it and after it was then then I would clip it back or just leave it down

I recently starting using barrettes that close when you put pressure on them.

I'm also experimenting with swooped bangs and then I bobby pin the end near my bun and that's helping.

The swooped/side bangs is actually going pretty well for right now.

I did the swoop thing for a while .. but between the condish and the oil sealant .. my forehead broke out.

I did it more in the winter.

Today I did braid out side bangs that were pretty cute. But I didn't realize they'd be getting caught in my eyelashes all day.

These layers are too much some days.

Get one side all cute and the other side is jacked up.

If I do anything successful I'll post and let you know.
