But can mix it in their DC with great results?

Castor oil on my dry hair makes my hair a sticky, breaking mess, but I think I want to venture into adding it to my DCs and pre-poos. Am I asking for trouble?

Last thing I need is another set back so I am being extra cautious.

I had to mix the JBCO with regular castor oil because of that same problem. After, that it worked better being in my dc. I use it in my dc but the diluted way. The hickory smoke smell also made me mix it as well:lol: . It kinds of reminds me of honey, better when used after being heated well in the microwave. For me, it does work better mixed with other oils and honey as a dc. Good Luck!

Bumping, I want to know too. Raw castor oil isn't doing much for me on dery hair ain't doing much for me except making my hair a 'sticky, breaking mess' too.

SOOOO BUMP!

I can but I can't do it straight b/c its too sticky, I usually mix it with a watery leave-in first.

Ive been feeling the same way about castor oil then i switched to black castor oil which is smoother to me but my hair still doesnt respond well to it ..i usialy just use it durring the week since I wear my hair up ...I dare not wear it on the weekends when my hair is out I hav efine hair it just weights it down to the point nothing can be done with it :ohwell:

You know my trauma with JBCO.

It does work better when its "cut" with something else. I change the ratio(1:4) in which I mix it with cholesterol for deep conditioner and Im still getting the benefits minus the problems I was having.

Okay, so if I have to cut it with another oil I mines well just leave it alone?

I don't want to have to use 50-11 oils in a DC. I just want to add one oil and be done.

I cannot use castor oil on dry hair - oh the horror! It turns it into a nasty mess...I can use on wet hair in the colder months, but I cannot use on wet hair when it is humid (which is most of the time in Atlanta once it gets warm) because of its humectant properties. It makes my hair over-soft, mushy and frizzy. It is fine all year round, though, mixed in conditioner.

I tried to use castor oil once on my hair when it was dry. I never made that mistake again.

For me and a lot of other naturals use can only use this either in something else or when your hair is moisutrized with someting in order for the castor oil to seal the hair with moisture.

Putting Castor Oil on DRY hair is a NO NO in my regimen.

Locks - The JBCO is damn near like honey to me but I mix it in my hand with my moisturizer to kill 2 birds with one stone. Right now I'm using Profectiv Megagrowth Growth Lotion.....so, I squeeze some of that out in my left palm (i'm righthanded), then I pour a lil JBCO in there too, then I rub my hands together and slap the sucka in and throughout my hair. Sometimes I do it again if I feel I need more on the ends or something. If I feel like I need to seal some more, I may rub a lil Vatika oil on top but I'm usually doing all of this when I wear my everyday bun. If you want to wear your hair down, I suggest mixing it with your moisturizer.

Does it give you good slip when mixed with conditioners?

That's what I mix with the Silicon Mix when I'm stretching. I don't know if it's the conditioner or the JBCO that gives the slip because I mix EVERYTHING with the JBCO in my hand (conditioners, leave-ins, moisturizers, you freakin name it). I even mix it with the Aveda. I'm not using any special measurement and I'm not using a whole lot but I add a couple of drops to EVERYTHING and so far so good.

Well you steared me in the right direction with Silicon Mix and that stuf is slip heaven so Imma take your word for the castor oil and think I am gonna try it!

I would never use it on dry hair and I always heat it up before my dc. It's just too sticky for me to use it any other way. I'm the same way with honey too.

Does it enhance the effects of your DC?

I apply mine at night and it goes on sticky but by morning it's a soft silk and far from sticky :D , I couldn't believe that my hair was not stuck together and icky feeling the next day. So I only apply it at night. I've been wanting to add it to my conditioner but haven't tried it yet, I'll try it tonight.

OT: I haven't found that darn Paul Mitchell foaming Pomade yet :( .

I use regular castor oil mixed in with my DC and as a pre-poo mixed with amla oil. When I use it on dry hair, I cut it with vatika oil.

I just started using castor oil and I Love it mixed with shea butter on damp hair, I even addeda little to my conditioner for my CW and it really makes my hair have shine and it keeps it so soft, it is a keeper for me, but I don't use that much because a little goes a long way!

I only use castor oil at night, it perfect for sealing my ends. I have a tendency to braid my hair at night, so I apply small amount to the ends. So far,I've had great results. My ends are getting thicker and I always see a recuction in the amount of trims I need when I use this consistently. I agree with the ladies who said it's too thick to apply evenly thru out the hair, I guess I always thought of the oil for my ends only... it's a staple for me!!!

i also use it mixed with amla oil as a prepoo. i started mixing them both with a conditioner in my prepoo. i guess i can attribute the ease of combing the tangles out. i thought it was my conditioners but maybe its everything thats working....together.
then mixed with my final conditioner, it made my natural hair really str8. it really kept the frizzies at bay!!

I mix mine with most of my conditioners, moisturizers, oils and my spray bottle (for rollersetting). Alone, it's way too sticky and my hair breaks, but mixed with other stuff, it works great! I even mixed it with my relaxer about 2 relaxers ago, and the results were seemingly darker and thicker hair. I may try it again with my next relaxer to be sure it wasn't a fluke.

This is exactly what I do. By itself I have broken strands all over my hands.

I mix my JBCO with PARNEVU T-Tree Scalp Oil to help make the product not so sticky. I either wait until I have used up half of the tree scalp oil and add about 1/2 of JBCO or just get another noozle container to mix the two together. I use the combo of the oils as a sealant or sometimes to oil my scalp.

I can't use castor oil on my dry hair either. It's so sticky! But I usually mix with my DC, and get great results!

I can't use castor on dry hair at all but I put it in my DC, henna and in the winter I will mix a drop or so ith leave in to put on my unruly crown area. Other than that castor oil stays in the bottle. I don't use it at all in the summer. It is just too much then.

I looooooooooooove castor oil dry hair wet hair whatever. When roller setting I put it in wet hair...if I'm blow drying then I put it in dry hair...I mix it with a dab of hair polish and then cover my hair with satin and let it soak in over night. In the morning the softest lightest most touchable hair ever!

I LOVE CASTOR OIL!!!!
