Anyone Use a oil for heat protection

I don't think an oil can be a heat protectant. I normally use it after flat ironing, just to give my hair some sheen.

Waiting to see what others have to say.

And that's all it does.

Think about what oil does when it reaches high temperatures. Think chicken grease. Don't do it!!

Only time I use oil before I am flat ironing is to seal my leave-in but I use such a small amount and heat protectants afterwards.

Same here. I used to use WGO because my stylist suggested it. Not a good idea. It was okay at first, but my hair started responding in a bad way after a while.

Oil is NOT a heat protectant and will not protect your hair from heat appliances. PLEASE find a good heat protectant/serum if you're gonna use heat. I recommend:

nexxus heat protexx serum
IC (fantasia) serum
NTM serum
many many more!

There are many good heat protectants/serums out there, cheap and expensive, PLEASE use one before applying heat to your hair!

Lustrasilk Oil Sheen contains propane!

I use to use oil for my hair when I used heat and blow dried it. It protected the hair to a certain point but once you start using appliances over and over again the hair cuticle breaks every time. This causes breakage. I stopped using heat period. Going out in the sun is enough. My hair is healthier now. I found out the other day that Lustrasilk Oil Sheen has propane in it. Are we really trying to start a fire now? Anyway, it was on the back of the product. I wonder if other oil sheen products contain this ingredient. Check the labels, ladies!

What about using oil along with a heat-protectant? Would my hair have enough protection? Without the oil, my hair has no sheen.
