No, but I plan to one day once I get my day care to where I want it. I would like a business for each thing I love to do or work with: children (I have already), hair (a full-service hair salon and spa), and a supper club (where you can get exquisite southern food and hear spectacular jazz in a soothing environment. Sorta like "Chandra's" the fictious place in Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman The Movie, but even better!) I dream like a crazy fool. As I dream, I write them down and check them off as I accomplish them :-) My day care stayed on paper for about 6 years (got the idea when I was about 17 or 18) until I totally got it and with alot of prayer (and writing the vision and making it plain), hard work, and sacrifice, it was brought into fruition (it was established when I was 23). I have owned and operated it going on 5 years. Though small, I don't look down on humble beginnings, and I have not had a vacancy open longer than two weeks. Most of the children I have kept I have had since they were newborns. Many move out of state and come back to visit and many I have seen go off to kindergarten. I know you didn't write all of what you wrote to hear all of that but, I felt it was a perfect opportunity to share because somebody reading this has a dream to own something or to do something. And somebody need to take a leap of faith. Just maybe somebody may become inspired to go do what has been pressing on their heart for a very long time. Whoever you are...go for it! Okay I have said enough now...back to hair. :-)

i don't, but i will start hair school in about 3 weeks. I hope to own my own hair salon within the next 4-5 yrs.

I'm working on starting a "hair growing salon" up in the Houston area. One that teaches how to care for hair between visits--not just how to look good walking out the door. I didn't realize that there were so many things that go into owning a salon business--booth rental versus commission etc... and the IRS is a trip with how you can actually run your establishment.:ohwell: And since I'm not planning to work behind the chair myself, it is going to be a feat actually finding like-minded stylists. We're working on it though.:D

This was my dream when I entered cosmetology school, but I no longer wish to do so, as I have since learned first-hand what it takes to be an owner. I'd prefer to concentrate my energies on hair, not ownership and all the drama behind it--it's just not for me.

Thanks czyFaith, I would like to own a salon. I'm good at managerial stuff. I don't have the first clue how to go about doing it tho. I need advice, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I'm thinking about it. I don't have the strong desire right now, but i think I will have that drive as i gain more knowledge in knowing what it takes. Mines will be a 'hair care' salon as well, not a hair styling salon. I want to offer products as well as haircare advice to my clients. Maybe even expand to the internet as well.

But in the meantime (while i am thinking) I am making sure I got my money lined up right so that I can have the start-up funds when the time comes....
