:whyme: me! over here!
I took out my braids three weeks ago and I will be out until the end of December probably. I am still debating whether or not I should put some in between then.
It has worked wonders for my hair. The only tough part is when I am not in braids becuase my hair is short nd my styles are limited.

I want to, but I can't seem to find braids that I like. Braids are so good for my hair.

I got a set a few month a go, but they were just too heavy for me.

I just put mine in this weekend. I'm adjusting fairly well to them. My goal is to keep them in until the new year. No itching, thank goodness. I'm scared to wash them though(for fear that my hair may shrink and the braids slip out) , I may have to do the sea breeze thingy and just sponge wash. We will see.

I plan to do the C&G technique from 2007 through 2008. the ladies who are doing it, are you retaining more hair then you usually would? And how are those edges doing??

Im scared for my edges which are FINALLY growing in

I'm doing the C_G untill, probably May. My edges are doing fine. What I find works bes for me is to cornrow the edges and just leave the baby hair out. I mean, it's very hard for me to braid anyway. I am retaining more hair and reaching my goals and it's very easy since I just shampoo every 3-4 days and do the Infusium 23 Leave-in, African Royale Leave-in conditioner and African PRide Braid spray combo.

But you know how you're suppose to only leave the braids in for 2 months, well I do one month extra and just take my braids out over that time period of 3 months and re-do them. But I have just ordered a lace front, so I plan on alternating between lacefront one week, a upa clip the next, lace front again and then my braids. So, for those three weeks I will be deep conditioning my hair and making sure it is in perfect condition and then do my braids over the weekend.

I'm doing crown and glory, but I'm doing it with kinky twists. I've had them in for two months which is a first me. 5 weeks is usually my maximum time. I've been re-doing the edges every 2 weeks, and I can see that they are growing. I@m going to take them out, leave it out for just a couple weeks because it's so cold here already and twist it all back up again.

I just started, i have cornrows right now, but my next style will be two strand twist. I plan to wear braided styles all the way until June 07

I've been in braids for the last 4 months and I love them! My hair has suffered from the last Mizani Lye disaster so I'm just waiting for my hair to grow back. C&G is the only way I can accomplish this because my hair requires very little manipulation to actually retain length.

I've been doing this for about six months. I'm tired of braids but I want to do this for about a year.

Yea, I'm retaining more hair. I wear my braids under instant weave so I have a chance to wash and moisturize my hair better without much buildup. I also leave my baby hair out and it is filling in nicely.

Yea...that's what I was wondering. I have really thick healthy edges and I don't want them to be sacrifised...any tips on keeping edges healthy while in braids for those of you who have been C&Ging for a while?

Chayil

The basics for keeping your edges that seems to work for me are no stress braids and moisture. I tend to slick me edges down with World of Curls or Sta Fro so they won't be constantly rubbing against my wig or weave.

I think I might try this. I just got another upsetting cut but putting my hair in braids for awhile would be a sure way to get the length back the fastest.....

I'm planning on doing the C & G for the next year...I took out my braids last week...and it grew about 1 1/2 inches...I am taking the amino acids and msm also surging.....I'm putting the braids back, in two weeks....
Currently I'm wearing an instant weave and alternating with a full wig....I luv my wig its short..... a white girl at work was like "where did you get that from? I need to go and buy one"
I think the crown and glory is excellent....I really see the difference in my length....www.growafrohairlong.com plus my hair is nice and moisturized while wearing the braids:)

Instead of actual braids I'm going to 2 strand twist my natural hair to my hair goals. I was just thinking the other day about how fast my hair grew in braids, I'm hopeful that my hair will grow just as fast with the 2 strand twist that will be in a bun with a baggie on the ends and my phony pony. It's gonna kill me not to co-wash daily...I'm going back to the low manipulation way of doing things but the one thing that will be different for me this time is that I won't have any split ends like I use to have by time I took my micro braids out.

HHG everybody!

yeah, i did it last year and i got sooo much growth, i am hoping for the same this time go round...

I'm thinking of doing this just for the really really cold months (Jan and Feb) to protect my hair. I have been purposely avoiding extensions because I want to learn as much about my natural hair and how to style it as possible. BUT, protective styles don't last very long on my own hair because I need to wash so frequently, and I can't really wear a hat over my puff... so this is looking like the best option for the health of my hair....
