I love her hair - its so thick and healthy and her curls always look great. i'd love to know how she cares for her hair. does anyone have any links to articles about it?

most of it is her hair. Although in some recent photo shoots she has worn extensions, she has a ton of hair. The last article I saw one her hair, she does not relax it, put straightens it by pressing it. I don't know what else she does. But if you see childhood photos of her, she had a ton of hair even as a little kid.

I thought it was hers, too. And that was before I founf LHCF and really believed that black women could have long hair, too. :D

Here is JCoily's six degrees of separation from Kenya Moore.

I went to Cass Tech in Detroit at the same time she did. I was in a class with her but I didn't know her.

She wore her hair in a bun 99% of the time. I think in a school year, I saw her hair down twice and if it wasn't bra strap it was close to it.

As for a current regimine, I couldn't tell you, but that sista was into protecting her ends.

Hope this is helpful.

I remember reading several years ago, that she presses her hair. And at that time all she used was pantene products, but was in the process of developing her own hair care product line. However, I never heard anything else about her product line.

I saw her appearance in Deliver Us From Eva (on tv yesterday) and commented on her pretty hair and how someone had asked about it (I was referring to this thread). My DH chimed in that it was her real hair. I had assumed so. I asked him how he knew and he said his friend went to Cass and remembers her with long hair. Funny how guys have conversations about hair too.

Here's an article from February 2000.

Kenya! This fabulous length, is it really all yours?

It's ironic because I get that question all the time! Yes, it's mine. I don't have a perm, relaxer or anything so the texture is very natural. It's a personal thing with me, but I think that a lot of times people don't associate a brown-skinned woman with having long, big natural hair. For example, I could be standing next to a light-skinned friend who has a weave but people will think that I'm the one with the weave.

How do you keep your hair looking so beautiful?

Normally I just wash it and allow it to air dry. I don't put a lot of heat on it. And I wrap it up at night. When I'm not working, I'll wear it pinned up or in a bun. I also like to put extra heavy oil (made with jojoba oil and vitamin E) on the ends of my hair-to protect and keep them strong. I also like
. doing a hot oil treatment before I wash my hair. I'll apply the oil, go under the dryer and let it soak in.
Trims are also very important. If you want long hair you can't have scraggly or choppy ends. Pretty hair, to me, is healthy hair; you cannot have healthy hair if you have 2-3 inches of split ends. So every four weeks I get my hair trimmed because I despise split ends.

As a former Miss USA, you've got to have lots of beauty secrets. What are some of your favorites?

Water, water, water... I drink almost a gallon of water a day. And I think exercis*ing is really important. I'm very athletic so I like to run, ski, dance. I think you have to do things that are fun, make
you laugh and that you enjoy and not be so inhibited.

Your beauty, as well as your attitude, attracts a lot of people. Do you ever get tired of the attention?

Sometimes I'm more conscious of it than
others. I think that some people don't real*ize that it's not really nice to stare at some*one. But it's a compliment that they're star*ing; I had an aunt tell me that when we were out together. For some reason I noticed all these people looking. I was like, "Why do they keep staring?" So my aunt told me, "When people stare at you it's a compliment. They're looking at you in admiration and you have to take it as such. One day people are not going to stare, so you'd better be glad that they're looking at you now!"

Being involved in show business, and with your beauty pageant experience,
what advice would you give to younger sisters about how to approach beauty?

We all have our own unique beauty. Don't ever think that you're not beautiful just because you don't fit into any "category." Realize that your beauty is your own; and beauty is not only about the exterior. If a person concentrates on who she is as a person and not so much on looks, then I think that would be very healthy. SOPHISTICATE'S BLACK HAIR

I wonder how she and other natural celebs (i.e. Queen Latifah) are able to keep their hair straight without damage.

Sounds like a LHCF-esque routine: minimal heat, ends care, pre-poo treatments and like the bun Jcoily mentioned, protective styles.

my new stylist does a lot of celeb hair and she says that the natural ones don't look "straight haired and beautified" off camera - she said that they tend to wash, deep condition and air dry off camera and get it straightened or however they're going to wear it for publicized events. she said that the ones with natural hair (or trying to grow their hair) are really into getting and keeping it healthy.

Kenya Moore is my cousin on my mothers side, my grandpa's brother daughter, she dosent come to the family reunions but my grandmother has her baby pics and she was born with a head full of hair and probably still takes good care of it. When I was younger I inherited my good hair from my father side and from the moore side a for head lol:ohwell:

This is true... A few celebs do this: Tweet and Beyonce have said they do.
