Anyone here applies their relaxer directly to the newgrowth without smoothing?

I've almost never been fully relaxed due to my extremely resistant hair...
However, I have texturized using a few different techniques.
Putting it on the newgrowth and not smoothing does texturize my hair, but not as much when I smoothed. Smoothing gives straighter hair.
Then again, my hair is very hard to straighten. What you see in my avvie is my hair after having a super strength relaxer on for 20 minutes and smoothed up until rinse time.
I think you should try a strand test! It's a very easy way to find out how your hair will react.
