that chlorine strips relaxers? i heard this but i know its not true but idk what could of started that. .. did someone go in the pool relaxed and came out with a fro?

No I was just told the chlorine would break your hair off if you had a relaxer. Just the other day someone told me their mother use to strip the relaxer with raw eggs and beer!

i heard the beer thing is a lie but gives you an illusion of a from but when you wash it returns back to normal

People have silly sayings. Lol people used to say getting caught in the rain would affect their 'perm' like ph its raining im not trying to lose my perm

I never heard that before but at 16 years old I was told by my coach that I had a mandatory practice that would be held in her swimming pool the day after I got a perm & jumped my happy behind in with no swim cap on.

By the time practice was over about an hour later my hair had gone from jet black to looking like I had put a fresh pack of orange kool aid on my head. Bright orange!!! Now, you couldn't get me to get in the pool until a good 2 months have passed after a relaxer & I gots to have a swim cap on!!

I was JUST having a "debate" with my mom about this when I took her to breakfast this morning. I couldn't convince her that NOTHING strips a relaxer. She was looking at me like I had lost my mind

The chlorine penetrates the strand and that breaks it, but outside of a possible bleaching affect, it's broke so it can't be fixed.

Pools don't even have enough chlorine to really cause any major damage unless you aren't washing with the right shampoo anyway.

I've heard of the beer and eggs things, but I never met someone it worked on. People and their tales smh.

Girl it took me almost 3 years to convince my mom to wash more then once a month, stop greasing her scalp vaseline and to stop using a brass hot comb and hot rollers every morning to style. Trust me with time she'll learn, my mommy is a regular haircare nerd now. Now if I can only convince her to join LHCF ..

Yeah I finally pulled the trigger and decided to transition. I love my texturized hair, but I slowly fell in love with my natural texture (I'll be 6 months post saturday) and just couldn't bare to part with it. I was dying to relax a couple weeks back because of all the beautiful reveals, but after I washed that feeling went away.
