anyone have step by step photos on self trimming?

I am in need of a trim and I don't want to go to any salons. There are so many tutorials on this board but I have never seen one on self trimming. How many inches are you soppossed to trim? Do you part your hair in sections or no? I have split, uneven and damaged ends. I would like my hair to look fresh when I rollerset my hair straight (evryone knows split or uneven ends don't look hot when wearing a rollerset). If anyone can help me out I will really appreciate it!

I just looked at her roll method for trimming and it is a great ides especially if you have uneven hair. I will be trying this method and hopefully it will work great for me.
