Anyone have an indigo mixture that will condition??

I just purchased some indigo and i need a misture that will dye my hair black but won't dry my hair out....Does anyone have a mixture that they use...my hair is 4a/4b

Indigo does not usually have a drying effect on the hair. I do my regular henna treatment 1st and then just mix indigo with hot water, and a little sea salt, wait 5-10 minutes and then apply. You need the henna application for the indigo to "stick" also the 2-step process offers the blackest black color.

Hi Reslnt1, do you have some henna to go with that indigo? Indigo on its own won't color your hair I'm afraid. If you use the search function, you'll come across a good 3-4 threads where members describe their henna+indigo mixtures. Sareca and Isis especially have reported good results darkening their hair with that method.

Using indigo by itself to get black hair is an exercise in futility and frustration, IMO. In order to get black hair with indigo, henna must be used first. Reason being indigo, by itself does not "stick" or take really well to hair. If used by itself, it rinses and fades right out after 1 or 2 washings, it that!. That is why ppl go thru the 2 step process to get black hair with indigo; that is, henna first, then the indigo has something to hold onto.

To answer your question if you still wish to use indigo by itself, add a little salt to the indigo mix to help it stick to your hair better and use a deep moisturizing condish afterwards to prevent dryness. i forgot to mention that i did have henna compliments of Jlove74. I also have the dominican Emergencee so I will use that as a dc after this whole thing.

I guess we're telling you something you already know! Only comment, at risk of telling you what you already know again, is to use a moisturizing deep condish, rather than a protein.
