It never fells, atleast once a month..usually towards the end...my scalp begins to itch like crazy for a few days straight :perplexed

Then i check my scalp which becomes nonexistant lol..the newgrowth is always so thick and i can hardly part my hair

Anyone else experience this or am i weird :look:

Yes, especially since I co-wash now my newgrowth seems to be coming in faster which starts my scalp to itch which causes me to go ahead and wash or co-wash my hair

levette its so irritating right smh..I usually wash my hair & scalp too but that does not stop the itchies lol

It may be growth but you should also check that you are not allergic to an ingredient in the products that you're using. I cowash almost daily and I don't have any itchies. I did have itchies in the beginning of my hair journey but once I stopped using the eucalyptus oil I was using on my scalp the itching stopped.

Yes! I went to the AVEDA store and bought their scalp shampoo and neutrogena medicated shampoo and i am still itching. Next will be paul mitchell tea tree shampoo because i am losing it

I haven't used anything different and I got the itches so bad in Vegas; I had to wash my hair before I got home.

I itch really bad also, i know im not allergic to anything because this is recent and ive used my staples for a while now. Does anyone know how to stop the itching?? At this rate ill be bald from all the scratching and i wont be ready for a relaxer when i need it. Also ladies, castor oil causes itching.

Thanks for responding everyone! This only happens at the end of the month & washing never helps lol...i relax at the beginning of the month & my scalp begins to each towards the end of every month after.

Maybe ur having a reaction to the relaxer? I went thru that when I was relaxed. And now my head only itches when it's dirty or if I'm allergic to something.

This is interesting...i only relax every 4-6 months and my scalp doesnt itch all the time..weird but I wonder...thx for bringing this to my attention.

My hair itches like the debil for 2-3 days immediately AFTER I wash my hair, every week, without fail :yep:. I've been using a lot of growth stimulating products though (and castor oil is in errthang :look:), so I attribute it to that. That said, I swear I have a mini fro in my hair. Even my BF has noticed that my hair is super dense at the bottom, so I can't complain. I take a benadryl at night to make the itching stop. Sleep like a baby .

I relaxed my hair a few minutes ago and so far the itching has stopped. I guess my limit is 7 weeks. Maybe its time to relax.

LexiDior I really agree with your post..i plan on relaxing next friday or saturday (about 5 months post) and 9 times out of 10 my scalp will stop itching.

Yes, my scalp itches around the last two weeks of the month when my hair grows. I'm over here scratching like the white kids with head lice. It's not cute but I do love the growth that come from all that dang itching.

it used to itch a lot when i was relaxing. now it only itches when i go a long time without washing, which happens rarely now...

I'm cosigning with belldandy when I was relaxed my scalp would itch like crazy when the new growth came in. Not only did I experience itchiness, my scalp would have periods where it was sore. Then when I went natural, I didn't experience these things as much. From time to time, during the winter months, my scalp will get a little itchy but nothing a little olive oil can't help.

Hi Ladies,

Itching is the bodies way of fighting something. Natural oils can strethan our scalp so that they feel strong enough to attack fungus. Thus causing an itch until the body expels the villain. Killing fungus increases nutrients for our scalps and that increases scalp growth. Sulfur kills fungus. Castor and coconut oil are anti-germal too.

To help your body fight the good fight, substitute yogurt for a protein treatment sometimes. Scrubbing the scalp with a little baking soda in oil or clay mask helps clear out the pores too.

My head used to itch like that when I was relaxing it. But It stopped after I stopped using relaxer. It used to itch like crazy at certain times. I don't think it had anything to do with growing because it's still growing but it no longer itches.

Growth stage? The anagen phase (growth phase) is ocurring in 90% of the hair all the time. My scalp itches because I have seborreic dermatitis. Castor oil actually helps with that because it's anti-fungal. I don't let my scalp get dirty, it just makes it worse.

hmm I always thought it was my hair growing too!! Little curlies trying to break thru.

ACV rinses can help with itchies and so do a few -diluted- EOs (tea tree, lavendar, rosemary, thyme, etc). That is, if you aren't allergic to anything or something else one of the others mentioned.

interesting......
I have a certain spot where I itch. right behind my right ear only(?) after relaxing.&

usually after I wash w certain shampoo ( once per month)

I use sulfur 8 the next morning or 2, I'm good

Cherrypie same here, its been awhile since my last experience of me feeling the crawlies too. i haven't felt neither of the two in over two years but i don't despair cuz i know it growing otherwise my TWA wouldn't be slowing making its way to BSL over a three year course.

This is funny because I was just thinkng about this... my scalp has been itching like crazy these past two weeks mainly in the back of my head... I will clarify in 2 weeks and see if that makes a difference... but I hope that means its growing and not dirty because I wash every week... :ohwell:

Yes! Around 8 weeks post my scalp starts to itch like crazy in the crown and back of my head. It drives me mad!
